Ideally, we'd like a mix of Associate Consultants (no experience) and anyone with 2 years + across our offices for our Education and Public Sectors businesses. What do we offer? Salaries are between £24k and £45k, depending on experience. What makes a good recruitment story? It’s a question that came up often this month, in a series of workshops with teams across the Government of Canada: First, your stories should let the right people see themselves in the role. If you’re hiring for a sales job with international travel, you’ll want to tell stories of powering through jetlag to close deals with clients in Sydney and Shanghai. (The stories will also make it clear that big commission cheques require “having a flexible schedule” and missing birthdays and anniversaries.) If you’re hiring for a 9-1-1 operator, you’ll want to tell stories about the most surprising, most fulfilling, and most challenging calls your operators have ever received. (The stories will also show that the job can be emotionally tough, and that 12-hour shifts plus overnights are business as usual.) If you’re hiring a junior corporate lawyer, you’ll want to tell stories about drafting contracts for some of the world’s most important companies, and reading about your good work in the pages of the Wall Street Journal. (The stories will be frank and not merely glamorize the work—which becomes less glamorous when you’re pulling your third consecutive all-nighter.) Second, you don’t only want to let the right people see themselves in the role. You also want everyone else to *not* see themselves in the role. Not all jobs are for all people—and that’s fine. Acknowledging this simple fact saves everybody lots of time. Your HR department doesn’t have to wade through endless applications and interviews with bad fits. The wrong people can just move on—while the right people have a much better sense of what they’re getting into. A bonus is that even if people don’t see *themselves* in the job you’re offering, being clear about what the job is—and isn’t—lets people think, “Hey, this isn’t for me, but my son/daughter/friend/etc. would be a perfect fit.” Remember: Stories can help you attract the right people, and save you time in finding them. #storytelling #GoC #shanghaideals
