Reflecting on a Year of Independence as an Executive Assistant As the year comes to a close, I can't help but marvel at the journey of growth and independence I've experienced as an Executive Assistant. A few days ago I had my year end KPI with the Group MD that I support. The first question I was asked was “What was your greatest achievement this year?” My response was: “Standing on my own two feet!”. You see, when you work is a supportive role, finding your own stride may seem challenging, but it's essential! This year taught me that independence isn't a solo act - it's a harmonious blend of self-reliance and collaboration. Here's my year-end reflection on navigating the path of autonomy: ⚫ Gratitude for Foundations: Grateful for mastering the basics that formed the solid ground beneath me. Every small victory added up to a foundation of strength. ⚫ Initiative Rewarded: The proactive steps I took throughout the year didn't just ease the workload but illuminated the path to leadership and autonomy. ⚫ Year of Learning: Embracing the ever-evolving landscape of my role has been a constant. Each new piece of knowledge became a stepping stone to greater independence. ⚫ Effective Dialogue: Communication wasn't just about conveying information; it was the bridge to understanding, fostering a collaborative spirit in every interaction. ⚫ Confident Choices: Making decisions with confidence, guided by experience and insight, has been a defining aspect of this year. It's a testament to growth and adaptability. As the year wraps up, I'm not just celebrating personal milestones; I'm acknowledging the strength of a collaborative partnership. Here's to the journey of standing tall, to the challenges that shaped me, and the victories that propelled me forward. Excited for what the next year holds in store! #YearEndReflection #ExecutiveAssistantJourney #IndependenceAchieved #NewBeginningsAhead

Designation matters??? (Comment what do you think?) Sometimes, I feel it is just a position in a corporate world where a person is sitting just to give orders only, whether he/she is worthy or not but unlikely we've to follow. For me designation doesn't matter what matter is 'Work Responsibility' which actually describes the person. Because responsibilities define our contributions and impact within an organization. A designation might indicate our position, but it's our responsibilities that truly showcase our skills, expertise, and values. I am not saying our seniors are not capable. What I want to say is let’s replace the word from 'ORDER' to 'ADVICE' thereby, our new teammates or collogues will be more desperate towards their task I think so. And if other agrees, it also increases our respect and money. What say??? #corporate #employees #follow #task #company #seniors #designation #position #organization #business #owners #entreprenures

I recently had the opportunity to attend a presentation by Hernan S., a partner and director from Bain & Company, organized by the Global Consulting Club at Thunderbird, Global Career Network and Arizona State University Graduate and Professional Student Association (ASU GPSA). The session provided a deep dive into the demanding nature of the consulting profession, emphasizing the relentless commitment required to excel. A key insight from the event was the concept of no "bad hair days" in consulting. This metaphor highlighted the constant need for excellence—consultants are expected to consistently perform at their highest level, showcasing sharp problem-solving skills and strategic thinking in every client interaction. Another valuable lesson discussed was the art of learning from experienced colleagues. Observing how they navigate complex conversations, the pertinent questions they ask, and their decision-making process offers a practical learning curve that goes beyond traditional training. This real-world observation is crucial for anyone looking to advance in their consulting career. The presentation also stressed the importance of taking complete breaks. Unplugging during vacations isn’t just beneficial; it’s necessary for sustaining long-term productivity and creativity in such a high-pressure field. Special thanks to Professor robert grosse for organizing the workshop. A big shoutout to Abdulaziz Alakeel, Atharva Vaidya, Hagen Jensen, and Mehar Satsangi for their outstanding contributions to the planning and execution of this successful event. #Consulting #ProfessionalDevelopment #BainAndCompany #ThunderbirdConsultingClub #CareerInsights

Career-altering advice I shared with my Chief of Staff last week: How to double your earning potential: If you can: 1. Develop expertise that is scarce and in-demand 2. Achieve significant results to demonstrate that expertise Then: the opportunities and earning potential that are available to you will be fundamentally different. If this post resonates with you, please share ♻️ this post and follow Matt Schnuck for insights from these retreats and 25 years in business.

Often, we unknowingly confine ourselves, convinced that our perceived shortcomings are insurmountable obstacles. As a coach, my most profound duty is to help individuals demolish these self-imposed barriers. For me, nothing compares to the exhilaration and fulfilment of witnessing my coachees defy conventions, break free from mental constraints, and achieve greatness. These experiences are not only transformative for the coachee but also provide me with profound lessons in human potential and unwavering resolve. Throughout my journey as a Consulting Career Coach, I've had the privilege of guiding remarkable individuals with non-traditional backgrounds, including doctors, sportspersons, and soldiers, into top consulting firms. Recently, one of my mentees, a musician by trade, achieved something truly extraordinary—she not only entered the world of consulting but also secured a coveted spot in one of the most demanding MBB offices imaginable. This remarkable feat has inspired me to share the invaluable insights gained from this journey. Join me in discovering the limitless possibilities that await when we challenge our own limitations and embrace our true potential.
Is an unconventional background a roadblock in getting into consulting? Our experience proves otherwise. A background in music didn’t stop our recent mentee from finding success at MBB – a shining example of consulting being a space where the analytical and the creative can peacefully coexist. In fact, we have seen many people from varied backgrounds make it to top consulting firms, supposed outliers who are now happily enjoying their consulting careers. There’s nothing stopping you from creating a happy consulting career. Go on, write your own tune. #consultingCareer #consultingjourney #consulting #consultinglife #careeradvice #careersuccess #consultingsuccess #coaching #bcg #bain #mckinsey

“When a person can't find a deep sense of meaning, they distract themselves with pleasure.” Viktor Frankel In the new world, each employer is responsible to coach each employee and facilitate his/hers search for meaning. It does not matter whether the outcome of this search will create great results within one’s organization, or a totally different career path. The fact that we can be facilitators of change to someone and assist this person to find a meaning in this world is priceless. It does not matter whether we are leaders in the High Tech Industry, Accounting, Legal or any other profession. We are nothing without our people and great results arrive through a joint purpose and the sense of meaning. A blessed week to us all. #ey #careerbuilding #management
