"I combed through these 8 construction job boards to help you find white-collar construction work opportunities!" In Construction, Labor Shortages Meet Innovation 🏗️ Labor is essential in construction, yet it's becoming scarcer. Despite fewer job exits, September saw a 15% increase in industry vacancies, totaling 431,000. These roles urgently need filling. Amidst this, I've audited 8 contech job boards and filtered out 3 that are offering white-collar job opportunities: ✅ AGC of America’s job board ✅ ConstructionJobs.com ✅ iHireConstruction Interestingly, I still haven’t found a work opportunity that offers remote or flexible work options, which is overlooking a vast talent pool. That's where LinkedField steps in, championing flexible work in construction. If you're seeking such opportunities, visit our website and join our newsletter. #ConstructionCareers #FlexWork #LaborShortageSolutions If you like this content, please like, comment and share this post. CEO- President at Kimmel & Associates | 25+ Years' Dedication to Executive Search | Thought Leader Sharing Unique Insights | Speaker | Inspired by 'The Art of War' & Coach John Wooden | Kimmel.com
With over 40 years of recruiting experience, we have accumulated a lot of wonderful stories. Here is one that is endearing as it is humorous. Working in the construction industry, we sometimes take a few things for granted. Once we had a candidate that was interviewing for a Superintendent position at a fairly large electrical contractor. It was a significant step up for him as the company he had grown with was quite a bit smaller. In the interview prep, we suggested he wear a suit, as that was the customary attire at the time for the company and it was always better to be overdressed than underdressed. Well, he wore a suit to the interview, but it was a rented tuxedo if you can believe it. While we were debriefing him, he told us how embarrassed he was and wanted to make a good impression. Also, given his recent relocation from Eastern Europe and limited familiarity with local cultural norms, it became clear that the situation wasn’t as egregious as it initially appeared. After being taken aback a bit initially, the company realized the innocence of what happened and brought him on board where he excelled for a number of years. Occasionally, it's impossible to anticipate every possible scenario, but when you have the right candidate with the right motivation, things generally fall into place. Let's debunk a common misconception: the scarcity of candidates 📣 At One Eighty, we never like to say that there are no candidates out there. Instead, it's about understanding that those looking may not be enticed by the roles you are presenting to them. Let's change that!
