Why do we need a special day to celebrate mothers? Shouldn't we be honoring and appreciating them every day? But then I realized, Mother's Day is not just about celebrating individual mothers, but also about acknowledging the immense value and impact of motherhood on our society. Motherhood is a selfless, tireless, and often thankless job. Mothers are the backbone of our families, communities, and economies. They are the primary caregivers, nurturers, and role models for future generations. Despite their vital contributions, mothers are often overlooked, underappreciated, and overworked. They bear the brunt of childcare responsibilities, manage households, and juggle multiple roles with grace and resilience. So, yes, we need a day like Mother's Day to pause, reflect, and express our gratitude for all that mothers do. We need to recognize the complexity and diversity of motherhood, and celebrate the many faces of motherly love. Let's use this day to honor not just biological mothers but all motherly figures who have made a positive impact in our lives. Let's show our appreciation, support, and love for the women who shape our world, one family at a time. #MothersDay #Motherhood #Family #Love #Care #Nurture #Diversity #Inclusion #Gratitude #Appreciation

🏳️🌈 Happy Pride - Advance Care Planning for LGBTQ+ Community 🏳️🌈 It’s estimated that there are over 2.7 million LGBT adults over the age of 50 and 1.1 million 65 and older. The numbers are projected to reach over 5 million in the next few years. The importance of Advance Planning for LGBTQ+ older adults cannot be overstated. There are a variety of reasons why this is especially important to the LGBTQ+ community and they include: - Laws and a legal landscape that may not be supportive of the LGBTQ+ community in advance care and some laws maybe harmful to end of life wishes of an LGBTQ+ older adult - Family may not be the preferred decision maker - May not have traditional caregivers in place It is not just important to tell people in your personal circle what your wishes are. These wishes can range from Health Care Proxy and Living Wills; to what do you want after death and how do you want your life to be honored. These are very personal issues to everyone but it is especially important for LGBTQ+ older adults to have legal documents specifically expressing those desires. Most older LGBTQ+ older adults can all share with you a story where of individuals who have a had distant family come in and take over for the person who is dying not honoring that individual or of having express wants and needs discarded by health care professions. Things for LGBTQ+ older adults to consider in Advance Planning include but not limited to: - Health Care Proxy- each state has different laws for handling this if no health care proxy is specified - Living Will - Financial and Estate planning - Emergency Folder - Engaging Death Doula - End of Life planning - After death As we continue to age in an ever-changing landscape for the LGBTQ+ community there are resources that can help ensure we can age with dignity and our values, beliefs and wants be honored and celebrated. Let's create more systems where mothers are respected. Let's foster workplaces where motherhood is not always an impossible choice between your life sphere and your career. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 As we conclude this month's discussion on the challenges faced by alienated fathers in coparenting breakdowns, let's reflect on the key messages we've explored together. It's imperative to recognize the often-overlooked struggles of alienated fathers, from the emotional distress they endure to the legal battles they confront in maintaining their parental rights. By standing in solidarity with these fathers, we can amplify their voices and raise awareness about the importance of nurturing strong parent-child bonds, even amidst adversity. Now, more than ever, it's time to take action and offer our support to alienated fathers in our communities. Whether it's lending a listening ear, advocating for policy changes that prioritize fathers' rights, or sharing resources to help them navigate the complexities of coparenting breakdowns, every action counts. Let's commit to standing together with alienated fathers, fostering empathy, understanding, and support as they navigate the challenging journey of rebuilding relationships with their children. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no father walks this path alone. Click here to get a free copy of our ebook ‘Coparenting Resource guide’: https://lnkd.in/ekBaf5yZ
