The majority of Latino and Black Medicare beneficiaries choose MA coverage over traditional fee-for-service Medicare. And, Latino and Black Medicare beneficiaries are more likely to be dually eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, a group that tends to have complex social risk factors that are key drivers in health disparities, such as food insecurity and lower home ownership rates. Another round of payment cuts for 2024? The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published its FY 2024 home health proposed payment rule Friday. For next year, CMS is proposing to decrease aggregate home health payments by 2.2%, or an estimated $375 million less compared to 2023 levels. Medicare data from CMS is updated to 2021. This dataset offers demographic, spending, and service utilization information for the Medicare fee-for-service population. Two new indicators are available: Medicare Beneficiaries By “Other” Race/Ethnicity and Medicare Utilization by Home Health Services. It is available to all users on the Health menu.
