It’s National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness and address the disparities in mental healthcare access and support in minority communities in prioritizing their mental well-being. We know mental health is an important part of overall well-being, yet many people from racial and ethnic minority groups face barriers to accessing the care they need, such as lack of health insurance, limited diversity among providers, financial strain, and stigma. Humana is committed to supporting an equitable healthcare system so that every person gets the opportunity to reach their full health potential. That includes things like expanding access to Humana Community Navigator®, our tool that connects members with free and low-cost resources like medical care, healthy foods, and employment support. And in 2023, we contributed $10 million in community investments to support and fund equity-focused programs. We can provide the opportunity which is great. Which many know is available due the power of the internet. The issue comes when the individual has to want to change their situation. The information or opportunity is not enough. We need to ensure that they can visually and mentally see the changes it will make for them. How it will better their lives. Success comes from one little question: what is in it for me? When we can answer that for them then that is truly what will make the change worth their while.
