To Universities South Africa, What an impressive initiative. Such an initiative must be commended in the current context where postgraduates are enduring a variety of trials and tribulations in an effort to complete their theses. Indeed many postgraduates globally take too long to complete their theses because lecturers/professors are not teachers and were not trained to teach. Mentors should have an understanding of personality formation and development as comprised of emotional, moral, social, physical, intellectual (not purely academic) and level of spirituality. Anyone who has focused primarily on one aspect of their personality cannot be an effective mentor. Mentors must be able to contribute to all aspects of the personality development of students. Hopefully, you and your team would consider expanding this initiative by seeking the services of other professors and adjuncts outside of South Africa. I am willing to offer my services to mentor and or supervise the theses of graduates. (Masters and Ph. Ds in any Social Science discipline, in Education or an Interdisciplinary study).
