Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Learning - Microsoft

I'm not sure where the last year went, but I know that it was everything I needed and more. Last July, I stepped away from work to focus on 3 things: 1. Spend endless amounts of time with my 4 favorite boys - it has been the best experience I've ever had, even though my sense of humor has regressed to that of a 10 YO boy. If you are ever thinking about jumping off the work hamster wheel for a period of time, 10 out of 10, I would recommend it. ✅ 2. Write down my children's story so they have as many details about their birth, adoption, and life to date as possible so they can celebrate who they are and never need to question where they came from - this was so much harder than I thought, but they deserve to know their story in its entirety. ✅ 3. Sleep - this was so much easier than I thought, but why did it take me this long to realize the importance of sleep? ✅ But then my phone rang, and it was Kim Akers - and she ALWAYS has something interesting to say. She was talking to me about her vision for Microsoft Learning, where she wanted to take it, and asked if I was interested in helping her and the team figure it out. I wasn't sure if I was ready to go back to work yet, but this was an opportunity I couldn't stop thinking about after we talked. Getting to work in Microsoft Learning right now, during this AI wave...really?! I'm all in. I've been back at Microsoft for 4 weeks now, and what's been so incredible to see is how purpose driven the team is, the continued depth of the principled decision making and operational rigor, and how much institutional knowledge exists throughout this learning organization and the company. Thanks for the warm welcome back and a big, giant thank you to Judson Althoff, Kim Akers, Hayete Gallot, Deb Cupp, and Stijn Nauwelaerts for giving me this opportunity. So happy to be back!

Jeana-reading all these comments about how amazing you are solidifies what I’ve known since we were 15 years old or so. You’re compassion and humanity shines through in everything you do! Every single person who has the opportunity to work for you will be immensely better because of it. I adore you and all your boys-and I’m so happy this last year has provided much needed rest, humor, insight and clarity! Microsoft is beyond lucky to have you!!!!

Wow!! Amazing to hear, Jeana Jorgensen - what a gift to you and your boys to have that time, and how rewarding to come back to something super meaty and interesting, if you're going to give up some of that precious family time. Thrilled for you! And of course, MSFT is so lucky to have your execution skills and institutional knowledge back. What a win all around. Good luck with the adjustments!
