The reason we save land is simple: we are not separate from our surroundings.

See how beavers can restore the land and halt desertification. Thier dams and canals: slow the flow of water, help the land to retain it and stop erosion, builds up silt and topsoil so plants can grow, spread wetlands out from the dam and control wildfires! Take a few minutes from your busy day and learn how nature will save us if we let her! https://lnkd.in/eU9eYjpD

"Landback is about radically rethinking how we relate to the land and other living beings." A wonderful snapshot of what #landback means and how #tribalcostewardship is in the best interest for #tribalselfdetermination and the health of our #land in the U.S.

It’s incredibly rare for a meme to almost perfectly capture my cynicism about the uniformed bureaucrats at United States Department of Defense, but here it is. I’m not one for mythologizing the past or treating it as some sort of paradise lost. Humans are humans & we’re only as good as our actions are. There’s no reason the current generation can’t be as great as previous generations, just as there’s no magical force stopping us from backsliding. As Charles Krauthammer said “Decline Is a Choice”. I obviously can’t prove this, but I think that previous generations were haunted by the horrors they experienced. Upon entering WWII, the pre-War US Army had plenty of incompetent clownish bureaucrats, who lost early battles. Thus a brutal Darwinian advancement process separated the #Leaders from the managers. Thus we entered the #ColdWar with an embarrassment of riches in regards to #Leadership. #Vietnam haunted another generation. After the #War they pulled off a near miracle of turning a demoralized, newly all-volunteer #Army into a fearsome fighting force that annihilated Saddam’s #Military in the #GulfWar. Conversely, I’d say that today’s generation of uniformed bureaucrats, instead of being haunted by the failure of the #GWOT; seem much more interested in maintaining a gravy-train of #Jobs & benefits to their constituency. They’re much more interested in getting high on their own supply of BS #Propaganda like “winning matters”, than not letting painful lessons of #Failure from #Iraq & #Afghanistan go to waste.
How does this land.

Here's a great example of doing real science instead of believing stories manufactured to promote crisis. The real data - which does not surprise those of us who have studied sedimentary geology - show that land areas are in fact increasing globally. Rising sea level - and sea level has been rising throughout human history - does not automatically mean land is being lost and communities are being drowned. Sea level changes are constant and natural - both locally and globally. Human activities have some influence. But we have far more important things to worry about than rising sea level.
Landification Even with sea level rise, around the world coastal land area has increased https://lnkd.in/gQCfFxu8
