While most #Veterans transition smoothly into civilian life, some face service-related challenges that expand the federal governments capacity to address. For those of us in the #VeteranSpace, the need often feels, unending. Consequently, communities, often unfamiliar with #military needs, must support these Veterans. Well intentioned people across #nonprofits, #government, and #CharitableOrganizations, assume what a Veteran needs, and often duplicate services or put resources into solving a problem that doesn't exist. At Veterans Bridge Home, collective impact, remains at the forefront of our mission. Using technology systems like Unite Us with our community partners like Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and The Jeff Cohen Charitable Foundation allows for us to provide wrap around services across the social determinates of health. Even better? We can document those instances to demonstrate what #CharlotteVeterans greatest needs currently are and target our efforts on ensuring those partnerships remain strong. #VeteransBridgeHome #BeTheBridge

Announcing The USA Cares, Inc. Ohio Chapter 4th annual Top Golf Event!! What's USA Cares? USA Cares' mission is to provide post-9/11 military veterans, service members, and their families with emergency financial assistance and post-service skills training to create a foundation for long-term stability. Their services improve the quality of life for veterans and their families and reduce potential factors that can contribute to veteran suicide. Last year's numbers: As a 501c3 Organization USA Cares achieved a highly exclusive 100% rating from Charity Navigator with 87.45% of each dollar going directly into their programs! However, this is not enough – last year, in the state of Ohio 642 veterans in desperate need of assistance requested $3.3M in these lifesaving grants. These grants and supplemental programming enable veterans to overcome barriers of employment and become productive friends, community members, and employees. Please visit the USA Cares website for a list of Resources and Programs they offer. They have an Average Response Time for assistance of 48hours. There’s a high chance you know a veteran. Even if a veteran served in the military decades ago, their experiences have shaped who they are as a person. Today is an important reminder to thank our veterans and honor them for the sacrifices they made. A verbal thank you or a handwritten card can go a long way in voicing your appreciation, but there are other ways you can also show your thanks. Here are a few ways you can support veterans in your community and across the nation. 💙 Work with the VA to provide transportation for veterans. Not everyone has a way to get to medical or mental health appointments, but you could help make it happen. 💙 Help every veteran have a home. Donate time or money to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans or Homes for our Troops. 💙 Be intentional about hiring veterans as employees for your business. 💙 Shop at local charity shops that support veterans, or buy from online businesses that donate to veteran causes. 💙 Spend time with a veteran. Meet for coffee and just listen to what they have to share. Whether you’re an American veteran or a veteran from another country, we thank you for your service.
