Story time... There was a TV show several years ago that aired behind the scenes bloopers. It showed the many repeated shootings of a scene before the final cut. Some were aired at the end of the regular shows to give insights of the many attempts to get it "right". Some of them were hilarious! Real-life Bloopers in Healthcare: No Retakes, No Laughter! Bloopers in medical care or in the community do not allow for repeated shooting of a scene; nor are they funny! A failure to devise an effective care plan to prevent an avoidable fall that caused a broken hip is not one that allows another retake of the scene. Failure to wipe up a spill or failure to repair uneven flooring which caused a fall and an injury do not allow a Take 3 of the action. Failing to recognize the significant change in the condition of a patient will not end up on the blooper's TV sitcom. Let's prioritize patient safety. 🏥 To learn more about E Wills Legal Nurse Consultants, visit our website. https://lnkd.in/gAmpqEQq #HealthcareReality #PatientSafetyFirst #safety #slipandfall #patientsafety #besafe #prioritizesafety #ethelwills #ewillslegalnurseconsultants

With NIH SBIR Phase II funding, we are hard at work redefining toileting transfers, accelerating "aging in place" initiatives!
The examples used in this article highlight the heightened vulnerability of "toileters" (people who rely on personal assistance to toilet) to understaffing. We are working hard on @The_PPAL to enable them to use their own transfer skills to get on/off a bedside commode, rather than helplessly waiting for someone to assist them. We will be periodically posting updates to our progress here, so feel free to follow!

😆😜 When is the last time you had an actual LOL moment? LOL is one of the most popular text abbreviations for a good reason. We all love to laugh. The best part about this is that laughter really is good medicine. Not only does it reduce stress, it also reduces blood pressure and brings many other benefits too, like diffusing conflict, helping with teamwork and promoting bonding in relationships. 😂😁 👉 Please like and share this important information, and follow us for more on first aid and safety! #StJohnAmbulance #laughteristhebestmedicine #HeartMonth #hearthealth #laughoutloud #laughterheals

We know kids put things up their noses. Children aged two to five are most likely to put an object up their nose - the incidence is slightly higher in boys than girls. Do you know how to perform the 'mother's kiss'? Knowing this tip has saved many parents and caretakers a hospital trip or two. How to perform the 'parent's kiss': ➡️ Relax and reassure the child, telling them you're just going to give them a big kiss. ➡️ Block the nostril that does not have the object in it. ➡️ Put your mouth over their mouth, ensuring there is a good seal. ➡️ Breathe into their mouth and when you feel resistance, give a short, sharp puff of air. "If you can't get it out with the kiss method, you will need to seek medical help," Nurse Sarah Hunstead warned. For more Child Safety resources, visit https://buff.ly/2W9XIBd
