Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you weren't expecting. When I joined Assistantly, I was scared of what was next for me. I had loved my time working in tech and the thought of leaving that behind for a new role and new industry was scary. I hopped on a call with Laith Masarweh after week one and he was asking how was feeling and if I was 100% bought in and committed. I was honest with him. I said I would be lying if I said yes - I needed more time and exposure the the industry and what my new role will look like to make that decision. Coming up on 6 weeks and I can confidently say that I am 100% bought in. The people. The passion. The growth. One of the most significant challenges we face as Gen Z professionals is the hesitation from older generations to give us a chance due to our perceived lack of experience. However, this reluctance is a missed opportunity. From my journey from Marketing Assistant to Coordinator, I’ve learned that with the right guidance and trust, we can exceed expectations and deliver exceptional results. Hi Friends! It's been a while since I posted on here but I thought it was time to share an update with all of you. Over a week ago I was part of the 5,000 person reduction in force by T-Mobile. After 16 1/2 years with the same company news like this comes with a lot of mixed emotions. I grew up with T-Mobile, met some of my closest friendships there, met my husband, moved across the country, had a baby and grew my career through four different roles. There is certainly feelings of uncertainty on what's next but I would also be lying if I didn't say I also felt an immense amount of excitement for what is to come. As I reflect on my career I am reminded of some of the really cool things I was able to accomplish. - During my time in Talent Acquisition I helped grow our headcount and support store expansion in the New York City Market. This was the largest increase in distribution the company had seen during that time. - I conducted the facilitation and implementation of T-Mobile's Training content to all of our premium dealers in New York City to ensure they were fully trained in T-Mobile corporate programs. -I managed relationships with T-Mobile's largest premium accounts at a local level to create GTM strategy for all of T-Mobile's initiatives while helping them drive sales and increase overall profitability. - Co-led from inception Arizona's Diversity Equity and Inclusion chapter which encompassed 6 Employee Resource Groups, 12 team members and delivered 22 events in a one year span with the highest participation in the country. - I led T-Mobile's premium retailer accounts through one of the biggest mergers and acquisitions of all time. - As a program manager I led the west region experience with key cross functional Directors from Retail, Engineering and Customer Care. Together we reduced calls to care and created partnerships across organizations that improved sales, reduced tickets, drove down escalations and grew relationships. - And the list goes on... I have learned so much during my time but still my most treasured experience were the relationships I made that I know will last forever. Hi friends! With the announcement of my new career services business, Kylie Michele Careers I wanted to talk about my vision, the inspiration behind the company and what it can do for you! For years I have negotiated with and built teams for some of the world’s top product and design leaders across companies like Airbnb, Reddit, Inc., Atlassian and Ironclad. For a while, being able to bring in women, Black, brown and disabled folks gave me my purpose. It showed me that I could have an amazing career while also bringing some good to the world. But at the end of the day, recruiters are on the company’s team - not yours. Now, the best recruiters are absolutely on your team, but we are pressured by recruiting leadership to churn and work at a pace that’s untenable. When I got laid off from Reddit after doing some of the best work of my life rebuilding their entire UX recruiting organization, it killed me. I had incredibly strong performance, I had made a huge difference to the company and I was working with really talented people. But that’s the nature of capitalism and recruiting. The thought of going back into recruiting during this nightmare market, where recruiters are either out of work or worked to the bone, sounded awful. I’m tired. I’ve done 5 years straight of hyper growth and the pace was killing me. So I decided to get out of the tech rat race. I decided to take a bet on myself, and use my knowledge and expertise and almost decade of experience recruiting to bring that knowledge to you. With companies making record profits and using the excuse of “it’s just business” when they are laying you off, taking away your source of income, livelihood - well then, in my opinion, it’s just business to enable workers as much as we possibly can. My programs and 1:1 strategic sessions are focused on that - giving the power back to you. Enabling you to take as much money from corporations to make sure you thrive. They are certainly doing that for themselves, why not you? Let’s rewrite the narrative. If tech is backed up by full HR teams, lawyers, finance teams, etc., why wouldn’t you deserve to be fully enabled too? I promise you, having a recruiter that knows the ins and outs of finance teams, hiring mangers, interview processes, will absolutely ensure you get a higher income, better titles and a full optimized career. Yesterday marked my 4th work anniversary at Xplor. *Throws digital confetti* 🎊 Now, this may seem unimportant for most people, but I like to celebrate these small milestones in life. Milestones are great because they help you remember what you've achieved and whether you feel you're on the right path or need to change direction. The thing is, I never really had a 5-year plan, and definitely didn't see myself in my current role when I started in 2020. I mostly care about growing and developing a career that I love and can become an expert in. And I look for opportunities to learn and to be in the right mindset to take advantage of opportunities as they come. The past 4 years at Xplor Technologies have been great for this. For me, it's been a work environment that allows you to put yourself out there, try new things, and create your own luck. There have been so many things that I've never done or worked on before. Yet, I've always been empowered to run with my own ideas, experiment and just give something a go. Moreover, I've always been given a high level of autonomy and trust, and I know that kind of freedom and flexibility is pretty rare. And while I don't know where the next 4 years will take me, I believe I'm on the right path in my career, so will simply continue to embrace learning opportunities as they come while giving back and aiming to create an environment of growth for people around me.
