Is your child finding it difficult to analyse sources for History GCSE? Students often find it hard to explain the utility of a source. For example, in the GCSE Edexcel course they ask the question 'How useful are Sources A and B for an enquiry about …?’ Students often struggle to score top marks on this question as they don’t know how to approach it. I can help! My online tuition sessions help students to: ❓ Understand how to evaluate the utility of a source 🔤 Know how to structure their answer to include the utility of the content, the provenance and how to use their own knowledge. ✔️ Avoid typical errors students tend to make. All sources are useful in some way - no source is useless! And don’t mention the B-word! Many students make the error in stating that ‘The source is not useful because it is biased. Sessions are flexible! You can sign up for: - a summer booster programme so your child can perfect their skills - weekly sessions - half of term of sessions. Is your child struggling to master the content of their GCSE history course? These new GCSEs were introduced in 2016 with a LOT more content. Mastering the content can be tricky. I can help your child by: 💪 Helping them to understand and break down the content into manageable chunks (e.g. why the event happened, what happened and what were the consequences) 💪 Ensuring any misconceptions are corrected (for example. so many students muddle the 1923 hyperinflation in Weimar Germany with the Great Depression of the 1930s) 💪 Model different ways to help them remember the factual detail (timelines, mnemonics, Cornell Notes, flashcards, stories) 💪 Identifying the key facts they need to know. 💪 Helping them make links between events and developments to see the bigger picture. #Icanhelp #historyturo #mastery #historycontent #historygcse #historytutor #onlinetutor

Is your child starting GCSE History in September or entering Year 11? 🫤 Not sure what’s out there on the internet to help them in terms of getting to know the content? 🥇 Today's recommendation is: https://lnkd.in/eBgsKfvY John D Clare has created fabulous resources for GCSE students and teachers! 🎯 His website focuses on Modern History and is particularly useful if you are studying AQA GCSE History. 🤩 The website is well organised into topics which are then broken down so it's easy to navigate. ✔️ Each topic is explained, with details of what happened, why it happened and the consequences, supported by primary sources as well as extracts from historians. There are hyperlinks for further reading or helpful videos, maps etc. 🔝 Mr Clare gives lots of useful tips on how to revise making great use of acronyms and includes self-tests on the key content. He’s currently revamping the website, so some sections are not yet updated. I love it! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ #GCSEHistory #Year10 #Year11 #widerreading #Historywebsites #GCSEHistoryrevision #examsuccess #historyteachers #historysuccess #historytutor #parentingteens #parentsofteens #howtorememberhistory #studyinghistory
