In April 2021, Nathan was playing outside with friends when he was hit by a bus as he was attempting to cross a road. As a result of the collision, he sustained multiple physical brain injuries, including a right frontal fracture, right orbit fracture and right sinus fracture.
We were able to be there for Nathan and his family, but there are many more children and their families we still need to reach.
Childhood acquired brain injury affects at least 40,000 children a year, and its impact is truly devastating for the entire family. I am sure you can imagine the heartache, fear and uncertainty they face without proper support. But you have the power to change lives.
We need to urgently reach more families and we need more ABI coordinators out in the community providing families with the emotional and practical support they need.
