As a homeopath, I'm encouraged to see the progress being made in both conventional and complementary approaches to managing Parkinson's disease. This chronic, progressive condition can be challenging, but innovative research is shedding new light on effective treatments. During Parkinson's Awareness Month, it's heartening to learn about the latest developments. Complementary therapies like tai chi and qigong, which promote mind-body balance, can be wonderful adjuncts to conventional care. By addressing the whole person - physically, mentally, and energetically - we have more tools to support those living with Parkinson's and improve their quality of life. I'm grateful the CMA is sharing this important research. Among the RARE Portal’s key points of difference are that it’s customised for the Australian context, and its development is informed by a robust, extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process, led by RVA. Soft launched at RVA's Rare Disease Day Parliamentary Event in March 2023, the “provision of an accessible multi-purpose digital repository of information and resources for rare diseases, including available care and support services,” is a key implementation mechanism of the Australian Government’s National Strategic Action Plan for Rare Diseases.
