Inspiring talent, culture, and teams to their highest potential | Master Facilitator | Keynote Speaker | High Performance Leadership and Mindset Coach
When our daughter said yes to Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television, we knew that she was so honored and thrilled to be part of one of the top schools for film and TV in the world. As her parents, we were so supportive, and yet curious where this film fascination was going. The more we engaged with her and with her new school, the more it becomes clear. She wants to tell stories with purpose that can change the world - one heart at a time. This week as we were welcomed into the Lion family, I wish every single company and organization had value statements that were as meaningful as LMU's. 1. Practice Ignatian Values. This means we make decisions congruent with personal beliefs, values and faith through continuous reflection and discernment. 2. Integrate Mind, Body and Spirit. This means we demonstrate transformative growth and develop as whole persons through this integration of mind, body , and spirit. 3. Commit to Service and Justice. Be socially responsible citizens committed to building a more just world. 4. Become a Global Citizen. Value the diversity of the human experience and commit to the practice of interculturalism to make meaningful contributions as citizens of the global community. 5. Live a Life of Purpose. Lead a life where their greatest passion meets the world's greatest needs. What would our world be like if we each committed to integrity, growth, service, justice, acceptance, diversity, purpose and love? #bethechange #loyolamarymount #lmu #globalcitizenship #socialjustice #firstdayofschool #valuesmatter

As a graduate of University of Florida, today is NOT a day where I feel ‘great to be a Florida Gator’. The elimination of the entire #dei department is an extremely sad signal that this top public university is now prioritizing local politics over a commitment to academic and societal greatness. If you don’t prioritize diversity of representation then you don’t prioritize diversity of thought. If you don’t prioritize diversity of thought, then you don’t prioritize innovation and growth. If you don’t prioritize innovation and growth, then you cannot attract top academic talent both in terms of your professors and your students. And if you don’t attract top academic talent, then you don’t get prioritized for recruiting and funding. Another simpler view: if you cannot ensure a safe and equitable space for students and staff of diverse backgrounds, they will go elsewhere. I appreciate very visible alum like Emmitt Smith taking a stand and urging Gators to speak up. The magic of our #gatornation is at risk of being dismantled one ‘small’ policy decision at a time.

The first, most important goal of history education is to instill a love of history in the student. National History Day does this by teacher students to be historians and allowing them to explore topics of their own choosing. This year's theme, Turning Points in History, encourages students to consider the causes and consequences of pivotal moments in history. https://lnkd.in/eb9RZh-F

Skull and Bones ☠️ Secret society at Yale University, US This article is about the secret society at #Yale. For the video game, see Skull and Bones (@game). For other uses, see Skull And Crossbones ☠️ Guaranteed Notary Skull and Bones, also known as The Orders, Order #322 or The Brotherhood of Death, is an undergraduate senior secret student society at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The oldest senior-class society at the university, Skull and Bones has become a cultural institution known for its powerful alumni and various conspiracy theories. Quick Facts Founded, Skull and Bones is considered one of the "Big Three" societies at Yale University; the other are Scroll and Key and Wolf's Head. The society is known informally as "Bones", and members are known as "Bonesmen", "Members of The Order" or "Initiated to The Order". In recent years, Skull and Bones, like other elite Yale institutions, has been "utterly transformed" according to The Atlantic. Few descendants of alumni get in, and left-wing activism is an asset. The class of 2021 admitted no conservatives.

📚 Exploring the Themes of "My Name is Leon" by Kit De Waal: An Emotional Rollercoaster As we dive into Kit De Waal's profoundly moving novel "My Name is Leon", we uncover layers of complex themes that resonate deeply within our social fabric. From the throes of the 1980s England to the poignant struggles of a young mixed-race boy in the foster care system, this book is a treasure trove for both emotional and intellectual exploration. Here are some key themes that stand out in the first 12 chapters: Identity and Race - Leon's journey is marked by his struggle to understand his own racial identity within a society and a system that often feels alienating. Family and Belonging - The heart-wrenching separation from his younger brother and the complex relationship with his mother poignantly highlights the universal quest for belonging. Powerlessness and Resilience - Despite the overwhelming challenges, Leon's resilience shines as a beacon of hope and the enduring strength of the human spirit. These themes are not just relevant for those studying the novel for GCSEs but resonate with anyone interested in the dynamics of family, race, and resilience against socio-political backdrops. "My Name is Leon" is more than just a novel for academic study; it's a powerful narrative that challenges us to look beyond the surface and understand deeper societal issues. For a deeper dive into these themes, check out my latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/dAmrvfDR Let's discuss how literature like this can influence our understanding of societal dynamics and personal development.
