In a climate where Black entrepreneurship should be experiencing a renaissance, it’s instead under siege, as detailed in our recent exposé “Why Are They Coming for Black Entrepreneurship?“ --> https://lnkd.in/gJFeANCR This systemic undermining goes beyond economic encumbrance; it’s an assault on Black autonomy and wealth creation.However, this backdrop of adversity set the stage for a revolutionary counter: Black Liberation and the Digital Economy (BLADECon). This historic summit, a brainchild of the Black Innovation Alliance (BIA) and analytics pioneer Plexus Information Services, Inc., marked a defiance against the tide. The findings of the BLADE survey underscores the potential of Black digital entrepreneurs, not only in establishing successful businesses but also in contributing significantly to narrowing the racial wealth gap. It is important that we RECOGNIZE and SUPPORT Black entrepreneurship within the digital sphere. In my hometown, Juneteenth was widely celebrated well before federal recognition. And it is great to see the acknowledgement nationally and globally. As a black entrepreneur - understanding and nurturing the needs of black business has been the epicenter of my agency’s service base. It wasn’t by plan, it seemed to “happen” that way. I believe so because God was using me to change my own hidden prejudice that I held. Truthfully, when I started my business, I had a very negative view on black customers. The old adage belief, “They don’t pay,” or “Ask for too much than what they pay,” was an ill negative belief that by the Grace of God — wanted to show me otherwise. Years forward, 95% of my consultancy has been around serving minority owned businesses, understanding their unique challenges they face in the marketplace and providing the clarity needed to differentiate themselves as business leaders and organizations. Because of that, I am so adamant about changing many narratives through data, and research to help cultivate helpful insights to real solutions. Launching the Black Paper is my thank you to all of my clients who serve in the trenches each day for their business, their teams, their family, and their community.
