I’m a Senior Data Analyst in tech who somehow grew a 6-figure content business with an employee in 8 months 🤯 As a new entrepreneur, I’ve had to learn some quick lessons hard and fast: 1. Always have a contract (this was a $750 lesson unfortunately) 2. It’s better to say no than to accept less than you’re worth 3. Plan out your goals for every week and day to maximize productivity The 3rd lesson has been most important to me recently because my schedule has been super chaotic. It’s not easy balancing everything I do, especially with all of the different meetings and changing priorities I have. I recently used a visual work platform called Mural to plan out my week’s goals day by day to make sure I got everything done I needed to. Job hopping is a powerful tool to grow your career both in terms of depth and breadth! I went to a tier three college in Utah and was able to go from junior data engineer at Facebook to staff engineer at Airbnb in four years leveraging the power of job hopping and being voraciously curious! That long minute of dead silence that fell across Chicagoland last night was me watching 20 years of know-how flash across the screen while our new “AI” inspected our data model and spit out perfectly executable SQL in response to every one of my questions As my mind went from “WTF” to “Now what?” to “This thing is freaking beautiful” (my actual internal voice is NSFW), I had to ponder if my work here is about done. In the realm of targeting jobs for automation, this was the first true glimpse of what’s about to come. It’s easy to argue that a CEO has other things to do than write SQL. This is true, and while its a guilty pleasure of mine, I’ve lost track of how many young data scientists that have been imparted with the secrets of industry context and the alchemy of creating something beautiful and actionable out of otherwise data chaos. Now, instead of hiring and training people, we’ve trained a model. Forget my own hobbies for a minute, and multiply this impact across every data or business analyst role out there. Your job is now redefined. Into what? Hell if I know yet, but it’s time to learn how to make these tools work for you before you work for them. My job now becomes codifying outcomes into a platform and scaling its reach while helping people navigate these transitions. That work will likely never be done. The other take away is that we are 100% going to reinvent BI in the Age of AI. The UX and frontend might not all be fully in place for the launch on 4/24, but the APIs and infrastructure are well on track. #AI #contactcenter #bi

#100DaysOfDataAnalytics - Day 56 Side note, Rod H. Danan is one of my best kept secrets! And I'm spilling the beans. He posts a bunch of great Junior Tech roles. That's how I started my day, with a few key applications. Other than that, yesterday I spent more time learning about sample size calculators and the meanings of several terms: - confidence level - margin of error - estimated response rate I want and have to learn more about what may determine margin of error, and continue to keep fantasy football in mind when it comes to data analysis, simply because it's easy to imagine tabular data and "what if" questions as I learn various topics in analytics. Luckily, the next section is all about considering the margin of error! This month has been hectic. I have moved in nearly every day into my new apartment. I have also been helping out at the gym more, so it's been really fun teaching people how to improve their boxing technique. All this around the job hunt and continuing my education. This has been the first meaningful week in a while. I've applied to Junior Data Analyst, Success Engineer, and Web Developer positions. Oddly I have experience that supports my in for any of them. That's one of the perks of having worked so hard to where I want to get and without a Bachelors. Anyway, follow Rod! His posts are golden. I'd feel guilty if I kept Prentus a secret. It's a great tool to use during the job hunt!
