Love an approval!! Quite a popular trend at the moment for companies requiring extra space. Classed as a "temporary building" they still require full planning permission if in situ for 28 days or more. #temporarybuilding #commercialarchitecture #residential #commercialplanning #temporarystructures #inflatablestructures #uk #construction #ukbuilders #ukbuild #planningpermission #architecturaltechnicians #architecturaldesign #airport #london #londonconstruction #londonbuild #checkatrade #ciat #heathrow #heathrowairport #planningapproval

XTU architects designed the Cité du Vin project in Bordeaux, France to create a link between La Cité du Vin and the spaces surrounding it through perpetual movement. The building is inspired by the symbols of identity: gnarled vine stock, wine swirling in a glass, and eddies on the Garonne, evoking wine’s soul and liquid nature: ‘seamless roundness, intangible and sensual’ (XTU Architects). 📸 Sam McKay

Watching and documenting the transformation of Interlachen Country Club over the past year has been a rewarding challenge. Of all the content we created around the renovation, this series is my favorite. In the Fall of 2022, I got inspiration from a building construction timelapse and wondered if I could accomplish the same thing with our golf course. Over the next 6 months, I tested various software, flight paths, and workflows to make something like this a reality. I did tests for height, speed, and routing based on the layout of the time, but knew I'd need to capture the changes in routing (like the 10th green moving 50 yards). My goal was to fly over each hole once a week during construction, but each week presented a different challenge due to what part of the course was being worked on, heavy winds and smoke from wildfires (thanks Canada), maximizing flight time on each battery, etc. I ended up getting pretty close to one flyover a week but I had to make lots of adjustments along the way. I quickly gave up on the idea that each flight was going to be perfect and learned to chip away at optimizing each hole. I did my best to match everything up and trusted that I could do the rest in post-production. We used the footage in different ways over the summer for general course updates, but as construction started to wrap up I spent a lot of time syncing up all these flights and cutting them down into 1-2 minute videos. From there, Andrew Green crushed the narrations for us! It's not easy to succinctly describe all of the changes that happened in such a short amount of time, but he did a great job and really helped bring the final videos to life. We released the videos to our membership one hole at a time in our weekly Connections email starting in February and here we are a couple of months away from the grand re-opening! I learned so much about video production and golf course construction through this project and watching everything come to life has been such a joy!
Our 5th hole has undergone significant changes over the years. As part of our historic course restoration, it’s been dramatically restored to its original Donald Ross design. Check out the link below to hear course architect Andrew Green walk through each hole and witness the transformation as we approach the re-opening in the coming months! https://lnkd.in/gUBuDRWE

Undertaking a historical building project is a sensitive endeavor. At WhiteSpace Architects, we take the responsibility very seriously. With every adaptive reuse historic project, we aim to conserve resources and historic value, while prolonging a building's life with a modern approach. Our restoration of Bishop Bank was no different. We have more adaptive reuse projects for historical buildings in the works. Stay tuned to learn more about them! #adaptivereuse #historicbuildings #hawaiihistory

How to build a legacy
18th and 19th-century classic plans are among the finest. Edinburgh's New Town, a speculative real estate development, was built in stages between 1767 and 1850 on a simple plan, the subtle architecture of which produced a notably rich urban experience. #Europan #E17 Runner-up in Eibar (ES) -- HYPER-TXONTA -- by AS: Gonzalo Pena Sancho (ES), Victoria Collar Ocampo (ES), Jon Garbizu Etxaide (ES), Diego Sologuren Martin (ES) – architects "Nowadays, urban environments have evolved into dynamic entities. Consequently, we posit that no singular system or dogma can offer a panacea to the intricacies of a multifaceted problem. In our Hyper-Txonta approach, emphasis was placed on mitigating the introduction of new constructions and their associated, foreseeable carbon footprints. This was achieved through the revitalization of the extant industrial real estate park in Eibar, leveraging Hyper-objects across various scales." #europan17 #livingcities2 #architecturecompetition #urbanplanning #urbanism #landscape #competition #architecturaldrawings #archilovers #axonometrics #eibar #españa
