NHTSA is warning used car buyers and owners to be aware of cheap, substandard replacement air bag inflators that can cause death or serious injury in a crash. In the last year, three people have been killed and two people have suffered life-altering, disfiguring injuries due to these faulty aftermarket replacement air bag inflators. Pushing our Load Restraints to the limit! We have been conducting Tilt Testing on some of our loads for overseas Customers. This testing involves a crane to lift strapped loads at various angles to ensure the way they are strapped meets certain G Forces recommended by National Heavy Vehicle regulators. Keep an eye out for more content for this project in the coming weeks #pushingthelimit

Our innovative suspension enables equal axle loads. Broken springs, blown tires, tweaked axles, and poor tire wear are often attributed to overloading one of the axles. Not all tandem axle arrangements distribute axle loads evenly when traveling over bumps. Our unique air suspension eliminates any uneven weight distribution. Front and rear axle airbags are connected together with a direct airline. As one axle is raised, increasing the pressure in its airbag, the same pressure is transmitted to the second axle by the direct airline. This causes equal weight distribution on both axles at all times. https://lnkd.in/gbBi5tyC

It appears there's an effort to mandate side underride on trailers. https://lnkd.in/gkdnTSSG The lady that started the uproar seems to have been distracted, drove under a trailer causing her daughters to perish. I feel for the lady; however, the fact remains she says 150 people a year drive under trailers. https://lnkd.in/gWYWAmwr My concerns? a. Lowered center clearance causing trailers to get caught on things like train tracks. b. More added tare weight adding the need to add more trucks to haul the same volume of freight. c. Cost to ALL consumers because 150 irresponsible people couldn't focus on driving their cars. We all know the consumer will ultimately pay. The aftermarket and production add ons will add thousands of dollars per trailer. I'm sorry for her loss; however, wonder if she was cited for distracted driving and possibly manslaughter for the crash that took her children's lives. We cannot expect the government to bubble wrap society. I hope the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA looks at the big picture before mandating these devices that will cause more harm than good.

A NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) study of tire inflation pressure and tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) showed that 12% of all passenger vehicles in the United States of model years 2004-2011 (with and without TPMS) have at least one tire underinflated by at least 25 percent. Check your tire pressure and make sure it's inflated properly! #tiresafety #tiresafetymonth #tiresafetyweek #techtirerepairs #tirerepairs #tirepressure

"Please see yesterday’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Consumer Alert (link below). The NHTSA urges used car buyers and owners to be aware of cheap, substandard replacement air bag inflators that can cause death or serious injury in a crash. Three people have been killed and two people have suffered life-altering, disfiguring injuries in the past nine months due to these faulty aftermarket replacement air bag inflators. In all five cases, the vehicles had previously been involved in a crash, and their original equipment air bags were replaced with defective, substandard inflators, in most cases confirmed to have been manufactured overseas. These dangerous aftermarket parts malfunctioned in subsequent crashes, sending large metal fragments into drivers’ chests, necks, eyes, and faces, killing or severely injuring drivers in otherwise survivable crashes. https://lnkd.in/dUQf3ZrV Please share this information with your coworkers and contractors." In 2020 most traffic fatalities in crashes involving older drivers occurred during the daytime (72%), on weekdays (69%), and involved other vehicles (66%). These percentages are higher compared to all fatalities (46% during the daytime, 59% on weekdays, and 44% involving another vehicle). For additional statistics on older drivers, we've included a link to an NHTSA fact sheet in the comment section. We're also including a link to ADED's Older Driver Fact Sheet if you need help evaluating an older driver.

1moThanks for the warning, I know this took a while to get this alert out, and there were safety experts calling this out for some time. It is still good for the public to know. There are still far too many vehicles with the ticking timebomb Takata airbags on the road, so hopefully this one won't go on as long. Kevin Fitzgerald #Vehiclesafety
