Take care of your people, and your people will take care of you. Simple as that.
Store openings are hard. They are long and tiring and we ask so much of not just the store opening team but those supporting as well, which means still running their own business from afar while juggling it all. So when I texted my new store manager and asked if I could get anyone a Starbucks on the way in this morning to the NSO, unfortunately his response was expected. “Should I ask everyone or just the management?” This innocent (and respectful) response hurt my heart because it’s the norm in retail (he’s still new and getting to know me, so I’ll give him a free pass 😉) Management gets the perks. The lunches, the attention, the accolades but it’s the sales associates that are our front line. The champions of the store and where the service level starts. Take care of your people… all your people, and watch your business, service level and retention of both internal and external customer soar. Here’s to another great opening at TNF - it’s been a blast getting to know, laugh and bond with everyone on the team! 🙌🏻

So thankful for the many skills I developed after working many years in retail. They’re what helped me able to be successfull in my many roles in both retail brand and brand management. Most notably is customer service. Having strong customer service skills set me up for building strong cross functional relationships and developing branding with the customer or consumer as the focus. Secondly, merchandiser. Understanding and thinking like the customer shops is important when thinking about how you’re going to set up the most impactful merchandising space.

Loyalty comes from the heart. When your team is loyal, it is because they feel their leaders have their best interests at heart, they all care about the mission, and the team, and they know you are there for them. Successful leaders understand well that their team is what makes them successful. Take care and support those who are out front.

From a seasonal hire to a Store Manager 🏢 In 2021, I embarked on a journey that I'll cherish forever – coming to Canada as an immigrant, armed with dreams💭 and determination💪 My first job was as a seasonal associate at Dollar Tree during the holidays. Little did I know that this was the first step towards an incredible transformation. ✨ Fast forward two years, and here I stand as the Store Manager at Showcase - Home of the Hottest Trends. The path was challenging, but oh, the rewards have been worth it! 🌟 Here are four learnings from my journey that I'd like to share with you: 1️⃣ Resilience is Key: In the face of adversity, I learned to adapt and bounce back stronger. Stay committed to your goals, no matter how tough the road may seem. 2️⃣ Embrace Opportunity: That seasonal job at Dollar Tree was my chance to prove myself. Always seize opportunities, even if they start small, for they can lead to something remarkable. 3️⃣ Continuous Learning: I absorbed knowledge like a sponge. Invest in self-improvement and growth; it pays off in the long run. 4️⃣ Help Others Climb: Now, as a Store Manager, I have the privilege of hiring seasonal associates. Remember, success is sweeter when you can uplift others too. Be a mentor, guide, and source of inspiration. 🌸My journey from a seasonal hire to a Store Manager wasn't easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. I hope my story inspires you to chase your dreams, embrace opportunities, keep learning, and always lend a helping hand to those on their own ascent. Your journey may be tough, but it's worth every step.✅

Do you have what it takes? Did I peak your interest? What do you do when you face this opportunity?
