This time we work In the North Sea, Hollandse Kust (west Alpha). โIn the North Sea, offshore wind farms are supported by platforms that serve as the foundation for the wind turbines. These platforms, often referred to as offshore substations, are stationed in the sea to collect electricity generated by the wind turbines. They play a crucial role in transforming the raw power generated by the turbines into a form that can be transmitted efficiently to the onshore power grid. ๐ ๐ Skilled technicians utilize ropes and harnesses to access hard-to-reach areas on the platforms, conducting various tasks such as inspections, repairs, and maintenance of the wind turbine structures. ๐ช They perform critical duties including structural assessments, cleaning, painting, and the installation or replacement of components, ensuring the turbines and supporting infrastructure operate effectively and remain in optimal condition. ๐ ๐งโ๏ธ #northsea #offshore #offshorewind #ropeaccess #platforms #substations

How is it possible that there are 18,000 miles of abandoned oil and gas pipelines inhibiting transmission cable installations and no one has to remedy this....? Gulf Offshore Wind Could Boost Clean Energy Transition There: The first ever lease sale for offshore wind production in the Gulf of Mexico was met with modest interest on Tuesday, but could nevertheless be an inflection point for the clean energy transition in a region ravaged by the fossil fuel industry and the impacts of climate change. German firm RWE beat out one other bidder for a lease tract off the coast of Lake Charles, Louisiana, with the potential to generate 1.24 gigawatts of electricity โ enough to power 435,000 homes. It It was the only one of three lease tracts receiving bids. Offshore wind development in the Gulf is hampered by, among other things, more than 18,000 miles of abandoned oil and gas pipelines that inhibit the installation of transmission cables to and from offshore wind sites. It also represents a significant opportunity for offshore oil and gas workers (many of whom have been recently laid off) to apply transferable skills to the clean energy sector. โTodayโs auction results show the important role state public policy plays in offshore wind market development,โ said Luke Jeanfreau of the Business Network for Offshore Wind. โGulf expertise in offshore construction is unparalleled, and their innovative solutions will continue to drive the U.S. and global offshore wind industry forward.โ (AP, The Guardian, Canary Media, Heatmap $, Houston Chronicle, Reuters, Heatmap $, Louisiana Illuminator, New York Times $, offshoreWIND.biz, Politico Pro $, Bloomberg $, NOLA.com, UPI, MarketWatch, offshoreWIND.biz, OilPrice, Renewables Now, NJ.com, Reuters, Washington Examiner)

๐ข OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE MAINTENANCE! ๐ข Haven't joined the most exciting channel for the composite enthusiasts? What are you waiting for? Prepare to start an exhilarating adventure into the fascinating realm of composite materials. This platform acts as your gateway to the forefront of the composite world! Subscribe to Composites Central now by using this link: https://lnkd.in/daWP9vp2 Now back to the post! ๐ Offshore wind farm maintenance is a crucial aspect of ensuring the consistent and efficient generation of renewable energy from these expansive structures located at sea. ๐ Due to the harsh marine environment and constant exposure to saltwater, winds, and waves, offshore wind turbines are subjected to significant wear and tear. Regular maintenance is essential to maximize their lifespan and keep them operating at peak performance. Maintenance teams typically face unique challenges, including logistical hurdles of working at sea, often in remote locations far from shore. ๐ต๐ปโ๏ธ But sometimes, shit hits the fan and you have to act quick! ๐คช In the realm of offshore wind farm maintenance, helicopters often play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of these expansive renewable energy installations. These aerial vehicles provide a swift and efficient means of transporting maintenance crews and equipment to and from the remote offshore sites. ๐ As the demand for clean energy continues to rise, the importance of effective offshore wind farm maintenance becomes increasingly evident. It is a dynamic field that demands a multidisciplinary approach, involving engineering, data analysis, logistics, and environmental considerations to ensure a sustainable and reliable source of renewable power from our oceans. ๐ Check out this video, in which these brave workers conduct a wind turbine boarding training session! ๐คฏ #composites #composite #compรณsitos #compositematerials #materialsengineering #fibers #lightweight #reinforcedplastics

Last week, Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) and Global Wind Organisation released our annual outlook on global #windenergy workforce demand for the next five years. We identified that by 2027, worldwide installed capacity of wind will be nearly 1,600 GW - more than double the level achieved before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. ๐งTo deliver this pipeline, we will need nearly 600,000 trained and skilled technicians to construct, install, operate and maintain these wind farms over their roughly 25-year project lifetimes. That means the workforce in just these segments (C&I and O&M) will need to increase by nearly 50,000 people per year from 2023 to 2027. ๐ช๐ฝThis presents huge opportunities for the wind industry to recruit new talent at all career stages, and absorb workers from the #fossilfuels sectors who may be displaced in the course of the #energytransition. But it also means a sizeable challenge for governments to work with industry in establishing workforce development roadmaps and training institutions, to ensure that we can deliver the anticipated scale-up of wind energy safely and efficiently. Check out the report, which also takes a closer look at wind workforce needs in 10 countries in particular: Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, India, Japan, Kenya, South Korea and the USA. Link: https://lnkd.in/eVtW39-9. A big thank you to Jakob Lau Holst, Ralph Savage, Andrea Scassola, Ian Buckland, Virginia Catena, Feng Zhao, Anjali Lathigara, Martand Shardul, Alex Bath and Demi Alexandrou for the continued collaboration and all the hard work in bringing this year's edition to life!
๐ขThe world needs more than 570,000 wind technicians by 2027 The latest Global Wind Workforce Outlook (GWWO) 2023-2027 was released by Global Wind Organisation (GWO) and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) today. The report details the massive growth in numbers of wind technicians required to meet forecast construction, installation, operation, and maintenance (C&I and O&M) of the worldโs wind fleet up to 2027. The increasing need to recruit new technicians over the next five years suggests a raft of exciting opportunities for new talent to enter from full-time education and to transition from other sectors. The report hopes to reinforce a strong culture of health and safety and reinforce a workforce development that will contribute to climate resilient growth around the world. ๐ Click below to access the full report. #careers #workforce #wind https://lnkd.in/gs4Mns4j

The expectations of continued wind industry growth bring sustained challenges at many levels. One of these is finding the best way of expanding the workforce while maintaining safety and training standards, something that can be achieved with the correct training and support. Demand for wind turbine technicians is predicted to grow over the next five years, due to the very rapid growth in onshore and offshore wind farms, as well as the need for older wind farms to be replaced or refurbished, as they come to the end of their working lives. However, for this growth to be successful, the workforce needs to expand too and the skills gap needs to be bridged. #offshorewind #onshore #growth #training #safety WIND-ON Nihat TONGUร PES Wind
