Entamoeba coli is a non-pathogenic species from the Entamoeba family; it should be distinguished from Entamoeba histolytica, which is a deadly species. Transmitted : oral feces. method of diagnosis: Preparation of slide and microscopic observation; identification requires a stool sample. Identification involves examining the shape, size, and number of cyst nuclei; the cyst wall of this E.coli is more resistant compared to Entamoeba histolytica, and its cysts contain eight nuclei versus four in histolytica. One way to differentiate these two parasites is by their movement; Entamoeba coli moves much slower than histolytica.

Have you ever encountered a situation where the sequences of your #singlecell data were incorrect and nothing matched? 🔵 Make sure to double-check that the reference genome corresponds to the correct species. 🔵 Ensure that you used the right samples. 🔵 Confirm that the sequencer flow cell has been prepared with the correct samples. ✨Share it with someone if you believe it's helpful.

#NewPaperAlert Behold the 'electric' caterpillar from Townsville, Australia! We used DNA barcoding to identify this species as Comana monomorpha, the larva of an inoffensive local moth. Its venom is different in composition from the other cats in this family (Limacodidae), full of toxins that punch holes in cells. It's actually more similar to venoms produced by American asp caterpillars (Megalopygidae) which are infamous for causing strong long-lasting pain. We think this is why the envenomation syndrome is a bit different from the other limacodids we have studied, causing longer-lasting pain and lesions, and even anaphylaxis-like symptoms in a subset of people.
