As a fan of both football and innovative media strategies, I can't help but tip my hat off to Manchester City's latest venture. Their documentary, "Together: Treble Winners," is not just a testament to an incredible season. It's a showcase of how the City continues to lead the way in commercialising sports content. In an exciting time where global fans crave insider and behind-the-scenes access, international and global sport teams are pushing boundaries to satisfy this demand. Manchester City, through their in-house production company, City Studios, has raised the bar on this one by bringing fans around the globe closer to the heart of the action. With sports teams worldwide enhancing their media capabilities to offer unprecedented access and content, it prompts us to consider the future of this trend. As embedded media teams become ubiquitous, finding unique ways to captivate fans becomes a challenge. In a market increasingly flooded with behind-the-scenes glimpses and personal stories, how will sport teams continue to stand out? Will we see a shift towards more interactive experiences, possibly leveraging augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) technologies, to deepen fan engagement or will we see a sports team double down on deep storytelling by enlisting a blockbuster film director to elevate their narrative? This achievement by City Studios also opens a broader discussion on the evolution of sports content. The ongoing battle between traditional cable TV and new-age streaming giants is reshaping our consumption habits. With streaming platforms potentially securing exclusive content deals, the question arises: How will traditional broadcasters adapt in this competitive landscape? This dynamic rivalry is set to dictate the future trajectory of sports media, possibly ushering in innovative shifts in how we consume sports content. As a passionate sports fan, the prospect of these developments gets me excited. The sports content war between traditional cable TV and the streaming giants of the world is heating up. Will streaming services continue to acquire bespoke packages to attract new subscribers, or will traditional cable demonstrate resilience, proving “this dog still has some fight” relevance in the digital age? Disclaimer: It pains me—a Manchester United fan since I was an ankle-snapper—to write this. Yet, credit where credit is due, and in the spirit of football and innovation, hats off to Alexandros Cuschieri and the City team for this one.

A big thanks to Netflix for reinforcing to brands why the cinema is the most powerful way to reach valuable moviegoers. It is just math, right? (Sort of!).. Top Netflix movie measured: "The Mother" with almost 250 million global hours of viewing. Impressive? How many of you watched "The Mother"? Better question: How many of you could not wait to talk about "The Mother" with your friends? Post about "The Mother" on your social platforms? And wait...even if you cared, what percent of that 250 million was ad supported? Less than 5%? Top theatrical movie at the cinema this year: "Barbie", with about 280 million global hours of viewing in the theaters, 125 million+ in the U.S. alone. Netflix released a report of viewing data from its catalog of 18k titles. The first thing I checked was “Super Mario Bros” and it had 200k hours watched, most of which I’m sure was my son. Soren Iverson "Skip the foreplay" is a creative message, sure. Catchy, so one can't quite miss it. And the subtext explains it rather well. BUT Netflix can do better 👇 1️⃣ Simplify the title to enhance the accessibility of the message. For example, "Skip adult scenes" (or) "Skip naughty scenes" are perfectly reasonable alternatives because they are: ✅ Easier to understand, and ✅ Easier to localize More options: 👉 "Watching with family?" (Engaging, conversational) 👉 "Watch censored version" (Meh) Finally, because this is a new feature, highlighting the fact can help bring more users' attention to it. Something along the lines of: "New: Skip adult scenes" 2️⃣ The subtext is OK, although a touch of instruction won't hurt. "Use this feature to make movie nights less awkward for your family" 👉 Explains the *new* feature clearly. 3️⃣ The CTA strings can be more specific to provide better direction to users: "Watch censored" (Primary: Red) and "Watch full" (Secondary: Grey) SO, the ideal title-subtext-CTA combo I recommend for this message is: Title: New: Skip adult scenes Subtext: Use this feature to make movie nights less awkward for your family CTA (Primary): Watch censored CTA (Secondary): Watch full Thoughts?
