Client-Endorsed Marketing & Advertising Executive with a focus on field marketing, retail marketing, QSR, CPG, franchising and e-commerce
Wanted to repost this, thought it was an interesting topic for not only restaurants, but potentially any retail category. Passing on fees to customers is dangerous business IMO. Ultimately I think it comes down to communication -- good communication builds trust, shoddy communication erodes it. This would also apply to the recent discussions regarding dynamic pricing, which could be an effective tool for retailers, but also could present disastrous results with a mis-managed message to customers. What are your thoughts?

Of course in America we pay the highest interchange fees than anyone else. Having been involved as a hospitality GM as well as the FinTech industry, this is of particular interest. There should be new legislation that’s being worked on this year. The Fed has proposed to cap debit and credit card fees with the Credit Card Competiton Act and hopefully there should be something tangible that comes out of this to fight its compounding effect on inflation.
