Here's my startup hiring philosophy: Hire people that would be great founders, but are too risk-averse to start their own thing. The key is giving them free reign to own their area of the business. Try to control them, and they leave.

I've had the pleasure in working in multiple start-ups and scale-ups. This is a very true statement. I would also add that when it comes time to push into a liquidity event and you need focus on compliance, process and structure, don't saddle these same people with these tasks. Let them continue to fly and underpin them with SME's to drive a strong outcome. #startup #scaleup

Alright, so if you're on a tight budget and can't afford to hire top-tier pros, no worries. One option is to round up a group of eager students looking to gain experience. Sure, you might spend a bit more time managing them, but that's all part of the game when you're working with limited funds. Another angle is to give startup media companies a shot. They're often open to negotiation, especially if you're offering them regular work. If you've got a yearly budget to play with, consider approaching companies with it. They're more likely to give you a better rate because they can plan out shoots and allocate resources more efficiently. It's a win-win situation – you get quality content at a better price, and they get steady work. There are so many ways to approach this questions and way more options but hope the above helps someone! The most important thing is developing a relationship and network with he people you work with. You will find a connection goes a long way no matter if they are student or masters in their field.
