Great lessons on public speaking here from Jason DeFord, more commonly know as country/rock/rap star "Jelly Roll". 1. Have a strong opener to capture your audience’s attention: "In these 5 minutes I'll be speaking, somebody in the United States will die..." 2. Establish credibility...why should the audience listen to you? "Ironically, I think that makes me the perfect person to speak about this." 3. Use stories or analogies to get your point across. "That is about a 737 plane...Could you imagine that national media attention it would get if they were reporting that a plane was crashing every single day." 4. Use pauses to emphasize key points: "I want to let you all sit with that for a second." One final lesson is to not judge a book by its cover. I am sure most people in that room were not expecting the musician with a criminal past and a face covered with tattoos to deliver such a powerful and poignant speech.

Part 2 of Dennis Meadows presentation. Essential input to understand what is going on now, how this works, why things are so slow and what the dangers are we are facing. The analogy is striking. The predictions frightening. What did we do in these past 50 years? Where are all the students that were inspired by Meadows and the Limits to Growth? I can say that I am a product of the ‘70. I listen to www.radioparadise.com and notice a lot of good music is from the 70s and a lot of current music has roots in the 70s. There is before and after the 70s. As with this rock n roll speach of Meadows. Play it over and over: the poetry of limits.

About Yesterday: this book launch made my day! What an original and inspiring way to launch a book and bring cultures together. The book itself ‘Cultural Confluence in Organizational Change’, written by Vasco Freitas Silva and Alette Vonk is about how diving into local cultures can lead to success, a #mustread!

"Hope/Currency" is a commissioned work by Creatives Garage, bringing together rPH, an electronic music producer/DJ, and Kins of Spade, a poet/spoken word artist, both based in Nairobi, Kenya. The collaboration serves as a response to Kenya's evangelical Christian culture, which wields significant influence in society. Drawing from their personal experiences growing up in religious families, the artists utilize samples of publicly available speeches by prominent evangelical figures, as well as the eccentric voices emerging from the church's more extreme fringes. This sonic landscape is complemented by Kins' candid and introspective words, along with rPH's raw and unconventional production, resulting in a compelling artistic statement. The outcome is a compilation consisting of five tracks that delve into various subjects including personality cults, sexual and financial exploitation, political ambition, and power dynamics. I know that I am not alone in jumping for joy at the news of a new album from Andre 3000. 😎 ✨ Like most of us, I was surprised and delighted to hear something new from such a brilliant artist. However, I was not prepared for the journey he took me on with this new album (all flutes and no rap) and the insights it brought up for me. Andre 3000 is a Grammy Award-winning rapper, singer, songwriter and producer known for his beats and clever lyricism. __________________________________________________________________________ With his latest release, he proved that it is OK to try new things, even when the world is expecting you to show up as the same "You" in updated packaging. This is THE most perfect example of creating something purely for yourself and challenging the status quo. Not only is he being true to himself, he is giving the world something NEW; something we didn't even know we needed. Fun fact: Aside from sounding beautiful, New Blue Sun is tuned perfectly to 432 hertz, which has proven to improve mental clarity, reduce stress and anxiety, increase creativity and strengthen the immune system. 🧘♀️ Intentionality is everything.
