In September we trialled a New Parent Mentoring Scheme to support people adjusting to parenthood in the workplace. We paired new parents with someone who has previously gone through this process and could share advice and guidance on how to navigate the experience. With 38 pairings it was clearly a valued resource and we are now pleased to have made this a permanent option for everyone returning from parental leave. Today it's the last day of my husband's paid parental leave (Henrique Viecili ) and I feel obliged to express my appreciation by the company he works for #RedHat for such a progressive parental leave policy 👏 . Encouraging, facilitating and supporting staff (including fathers) to take parental leave and share caring responsibilities is imperative! Besides the lovely opportunity and the immeasurable positive impact caused in our family (kids and myself) this company is doing it's part to narrow the gender gap, boost workplace productivity and champion Australian parents in both their family and work goals.
