Small rooms are powerful rooms. Today we had our quarterly gathering with the Tech Workforce Sub-Community of #AtlantaBlackTech. We had some BIG wins within the community like new hires, partnerships with international companies, upskilling the community with AI, hackathons, job opportunities, and conferences all of which add up to making an impact on the Black tech pipeline in Atlanta. The working goals for this committee are: ⚡Increase the number of Metro Atlanta Black tech professionals in development programs in order to improve the likelihood of new hires and promotions. ⚡Increase the number of participants in mentorship and training programs from (TBD) to 5,000. ⚡Increase the number of participants in cross-organization mentorship and training programs from 0 to 500 ⚡Increase the number of new hires post-engagement in development programs from (TBD) to Y. Why are we sharing this with you? Because every big change starts with a conversation. And this? This is your invitation to join the dialogue. How do you see yourself being a part of this community’s future? Your first step can be to join https://lnkd.in/edTJqGY4

I ♥️ Technology! | Tech TV Host | Captivating Public Speaker | Global Partnerships | Leadership Media Training for Tech Executives | PropTech | Podcast | Advisor | Building Tech Communities
Thrilled to share a recent victory! (Sharing this twice cause I’m twice as proud 🫣😂) 🏆 🌟 Storytime: I had the opportunity to advocate for a talented young Black woman entering her first role as a #software engineer. Initially, she was offered a compensation package that didn’t align with industry standards, leaving her confused and undervalued. Determined to make a difference, I arranged a Zoom meeting to renegotiate. The result? Not only did we secure a well-deserved salary increase for her, but we also set a new standard for all future junior software engineers at this leading tech company. As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this Monday, let’s remember that his vision was about creating opportunities and fairness for everyone. In that spirit, I’m proud to have played a part in advancing equity in the tech industry. Here’s to being an unwavering advocate for junior software engineers! Now, jokingly, where’s my plaque? 😄 Are you hiring junior software engineers? Do you advocate for inclusivity? I’d love to place amazing technical talent at your company! Let’s connect. Dm me to set up a call. #DiversityInTech #AdvocacyInAction #CareerMilestones #SoftwareEngineer #iLoveTechnology #engineering #engineer #Tech #WomeninTech #BlackinTech #TechLife #techinfluencer

We are well aware that the tech world is not that inclusive. That's why since our birth, we advocate strongly for a more diverse tech landscape. More than words, we want to take actions in favour of this important cause. That's why we participate each year to CodeOp's Career Week! By working with this awesome partner, we really want to change the culture of tech and put the spotlight on providing support and training to empower the tech passionate, no matter who they are. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eRpV_dAR

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 - 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧 After an incredible 15 years, James Corcoran is moving on to an exciting new leadership role in the AI space. Follow him below for updates 👇 James and I joined the same grad program in 2009, and he immediately set the standard for all of us - a grad "alpha", if you will! We've enjoyed an intense rivalry underpinned by a deep friendship for a decade and a half, always pushing each other to be better: better technical knowledge, better domain expertise, better people management, better thought leadership... it never ceased! Armies of future employees, from presales to architects to partner teams, were simply told to "be like James." Thank you, James, for inspiring us all with your dedication, vision, and leadership. Your wise counsel will be deeply missed, but I'm so excited to follow your continued success into the next chapter 🚀 Three Key Leadership Learnings: 1) 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦: 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺'𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵.” ― Henry Ford James' unwavering belief in the power of possibility pushed us to achieve the seemingly impossible. His optimism was contagious, inspiring us to tackle challenges that bend the laws of physics! 2) 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐭𝐨-𝐍: 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞 James has an almost artistic way of weaving software, hardware, data, analytics, and AI into incredible outcomes for customers. Peter Thiel famously talks about innovation as: 𝘡𝘦𝘳𝘰-𝘵𝘰-𝘖𝘯𝘦 (divining brand new technology out of thin air) and scale as: 𝘖𝘯𝘦-𝘵𝘰-𝘕 (incremental improvements on existing technology). James is simultaneously an innovation creator and growth iterator. 3) 𝐔𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 James held the team to the highest standards, ensuring that we always strived for excellence. His emphasis on accountability fostered a culture of responsibility and high performance, making us all better at what we do - even if it meant the odd late night email on a Friday! #Leadership #Culture #Appreciation #AI #Scale #Innovation #Accountability
𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 15 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 Today is my last day at KX! This wasn't an easy decision but after 15 incredible years I've decided to pursue an exciting new opportunity that I'll share details about soon. KX has been much more than a workplace to me - it's been a huge part of my life since joining the grad program back in 2009. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with the most inspiring colleagues, customers, and partners - all pushing boundaries in their fields with this amazing technology. My job has given me the opportunity to travel the world, evangelising KX to everyone who would listen. And I’m thankful to have been given brilliant career opportunities within the company - starting in solution engineering and customer success, followed by leadership roles in product and R&D, before moving into go-to-market and business development, giving me a 360-degree view of this great organization and in many ways setting me up for my next chapter. It’s also been a privilege to serve on the leadership team over the past 5 years, shaping several strategic initiatives and working closely with an exceptionally talented and dedicated team under Seamus Keating’s and subsequently Ashok Reddy’s stewardship. Alongside the numerous highs, there were lows, and somehow, I can’t let this day pass without paying tribute to our visionary founder, Brian, and friends and teammates, Jamie and Peter. All taken far too soon. As hard as it was, we marched forward, determined to continue the great work they started. Together with colleagues, we've celebrated many milestones, proudly punching above our weight on the world stage. Back in 2009, KX was one of Wall Street’s best kept secrets - exclusively used by investment banks and hedge funds to power their research and trading platforms. But thanks to talented colleagues and trailblazing customers, KX is now widely deployed to solve data, analytics, and AI-related challenges in: ✈ Aerospace & Defense ⚡ Energy & Utilities 🏥 Healthcare & Life Sciences 🚘 Automotive 🏭 Manufacturing 📲 Telco However, beyond the product accolades and customer wins, the company’s greatest legacy may be the impact it has had on young STEM talent. Over the years, it has given a generation of grads a chance to stamp their mark on the world. So, today, my overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude. I’m grateful for this technology – unrivalled in its class; grateful for our customers and partners – each of them industry giants; grateful to be among the thousands of grads who walked these halls and were given the chance to grow; and most importantly, I’m grateful to have met several lifelong friends with whom I’ve shared the journey ❤️ #KX #ontothenextchapter

2024 is off to an amazing start! 🌟 Just had an interview with a company I'm very interested in. I gained so much insight and just being in that interview setting was a valuable experience, especially in today's market. 🛠 Deployed an external tool to production at work (in my non-tech job). It's simple but makes a difference. More on this in a later post. 🎯 The best part? Weekly check-ins with former cohort-mates, where we share ideas, laughs, and learnings. ☕ Here's to a year filled with more growth and coffee!
