As 2023 comes to a close, BC Voices’ thanks you for partnering with us in 2023 to launch Stand UP, Speak OUT Episode 3: Reproductive Rights, the story of how critical reproductive rights are to women’s ongoing freedom and independence. In August, BC Voices released the compelling, comprehensive and moving 28-minute historical documentary, Stand UP, Speak OUT: Reproductive Rights - Know Your Rights, chronicling American women’s 200+ years and ongoing fight for reproductive freedom. It calls on us to Stand UP and Speak OUT until every woman has bodily autonomy, the right to bear or not bear children, and can raise her children in a safe and sustainable community. Our promotion campaign included a screening at a Lush Cosmetics store in Manhattan; and two Zoom watch parties, including a discussion among four distinguished feminist scholars elucidating the race and class complexities of reproductive freedom. Three of the four short multi-generational conversations comprising Stand UP, Speak OUT: Reproductive Rights – Personal Stories were awarded Best In Social Justice Films by the NYWIFT 2023 Online Shorts Festival – Sterilization, Birth Control and Abortion. These stories from racially diverse women expose what’s changed, what’s the same, and how far all American women have to go to reach reproductive autonomy. We are reaching out to college professors and civic organizations, letting them know the short documentaries that make up SUSO Episode1: Equal Pay, Episode 2: Voting Rights and Episode 3: Reproductive Rights are available to them, free of charge, to include in courses and events. We hope the Stand UP, Speak OUT Docuseries will inspire the younger generation to join the fight for women's full equality. Coming in 2024, the next chapter in the story of the historically unprecedented lives lived by women over the past 50+ years, Stand UP, Speak OUT Episode 4: To Marry Whom We Love, or, Not At All . With new freedoms and independence since the mid-20th century, many women’s options around partnering and singlehood have expanded – to choose partners regardless of race, gender, faith, and class; to partner multiple times to find the “right” one; to create families with or without partners, without stigma; or to live full lives as single women. We invite you to help us raise the funds to produce this next chapter in our award-winning docuseries, Stand UP, Speak OUT: The Personal Politics of Women’s Rights, and, consider a tax-deductible contribution as part of your 2023 year-end charitable giving plans. With a donation of any amount, www.bcvoices.org/donate, you join us in our mission to tell the story of women's ongoing fight for full equality through historical narratives and personal storytelling, illuminating the battles, highlighting the successes, and inspiring us all to stay engaged in the continuing fight. Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish you peace, joy, and good health in 2024.

I'm excited to share in my op-ed in Inside Philanthropy how c3 funds can be deployed to support the nonpartisan, charitable programs at c4 organizations, which legally need to spend the majority of their funds on nonpartisan work. c3 funders can unlock political opportunity by funding all social change leaders for their nonpartisan work, and this will allow us to strengthen democracy and unlock durable social change. https://lnkd.in/e9b3p-ar

We are honored to be listed No.1 on @romper’s List of “Where To Donate To On Giving Tuesday To Help Children, Women, & Families” ➡️ https://lnkd.in/emDh8iWs Donate Now ➡️ link in bio or visit bit.ly/DonateToPSI2023 Exciting Match Opportunity ➡️ We've received a $10,000 match for Giving Tuesday from Flourish Impact Fund; when we reach $10,000 in donations, Flourish Impact Fund will provide the match. Boost your impact this Giving Tuesday and the weeks to follow. Read Excerpt from Romper Article ⤵️⤵️⤵️ “After Thanksgiving comes Black Friday, then Cyber Monday, then Giving Tuesday. Unlike the two shopping events that precede it, all within a 4-day window, Giving Tuesday is more about altruism than self-service. The intention of the Giving Tuesday movement is to encourage people globally to donate whatever they have the means to to a non-profit. Despite what you may assume, it doesn’t even need to be a monetary contribution — some people might choose to donate blood, goods, or their time to organizations, programs, or individuals in need. There is nothing judgy about Giving Tuesday: it’s simply a reminder and opportunity to help a cause, community, or person.” “This year, Romper has decided to highlight a group of charity organizations that prioritize the protection, health, and support of women and children. If you are looking to donate to a worthwhile cause this Giving Tuesday or any point really, please consider the following: “Postpartum Support International (PSI) is one of the most well-known postpartum mental health organizations because of how much they do. It seems like an obvious choice, but their efforts are so broad, aiming to help individual parents and reach providers nationwide too. They offer a free helpline and online support groups for moms and dads, LGBTQIA+ parents, adoptive and foster parents, and more. They also host trainings for primary care doctors to learn about screening their patients for perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and run a call line where any provider can get more information if they have concerns about someone in their care.” — @katiemcphersonwrites #SupportSavesLives #GivingTuesday #DonateToday

"No State Has an Adequate Supply of Affordable Rental Housing for the Lowest-Income Renters" According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) the DC metropolitan area has 195,725 extremely low income renter households. The amount of affordable and available rental homes is 51,290. Now imagine the amount of adults in the LGBT+ community that effects. Now, imagine the amount of LGBT+ adults being victimized in their own homes and want to escape from their current situation, but due to their income and the current falsely claimed "affordable housing" in the DC metropolitan area they stay and endure, due to the gaps in housing for LGBT+ adults. This is why the vision for Safe Place is to provide safe and "truly affordable" housing communities for LGBT+ adults.... This is our vision because if not us, then who? DC is our home, but that's not the last stop on our train to LGBT+ success! After all, "No State Has an Adequate Supply of Affordable Rental Housing for the Lowest-Income Renters". Did you know that more than two thirds of the 800 million people globally who cannot read are women? While over 40 per cent of women around the world cannot make decisions on sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights? These humbling statistics have been provided by the United Nations in support of World Population Day (11 July) , which over the past three decades has been campaigning for societies around the world to make progress in improving population data gathering, analysis, and use. These advancements have significantly enhanced the delivery of healthcare globally, leading to substantial improvements in sexual and reproductive health and the ability to exercise rights and choices. However, the most marginalised communities remain underrepresented in data, profoundly affecting their lives and well-being. World Population Day 2024 is a moment to ask who is still going uncounted and why – and what this costs individuals, societies, and our global efforts to leave no one behind. It is also a moment for all of us to commit to doing more to ensure that our data systems capture the full range of human diversity so that everyone is seen, can exercise their human rights and can reach their full potential. #savinglives #randalfoundation Randal Charitable Foundation #worldpopulationday2024 #worldpopulationday #equality #equity #womensrights #periodpoverty #fertilityfreedom #fertility #genderequality #femaleleaders #grants #charitywork #charitysupport #charityfundraising #charitysupport #grantgiving #grantfunding #fundraising #charitypartner #funding #nonprofit #community #philanthropy #charity #givingback #donate #childrenshealth #support #charitablegiving #charitabletrust #charitablefoundatio #donations #healthcareforall #educationforall Rachael McCormack Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL
