A highly beneficial engagement with MOD and industry at the international Vehicle conference in Twickenham.
At this Show Getac along with Kent Modular Electronics, Ltd., Demonstrated the UX10 tablet, in a very compelling use case.
The Device was shown as a commanders display and smart computer using Ultra PCS’s PGI Gva software. This allowed the unit to provide the vehicle commander all the functions and features that he or she are used to receiving. This gave the commander quick access to the Battle management and communications elements of GVA as well as other useful tools.
What is unusual but highly beneficial is that the device could be easily and quickly removed from the platform and used for other tasks when the soldiers are dismounted from the platform, this also gives a huge advantage to increasing operational security as the vehicle doesn’t need to be destroyed if it becomes damaged in operations, as all of the mission critical data can be removed with the device.
The main feature that the team at IAV were demonstrating is the NVIS Class A Modification on the UX10 Tablet, this allows the device to go into a true NVIS A Mode, this means that the driver, gunner and commander can drive while using night vision, but most importantly their signature on the battlefield is significantly reduced therefore improving the survivability of our troops.
