When were you last scared? For me it was when I was lost on the moors earlier… It was still dark, there was thick fog in the air, the dog had vanished, and I had an overwhelming sense…that I was not alone. Luckily for me I made it back in one piece… What about you? When were you last: Unnerved? 😱 Uncomfortable? 😱 Terrified? 😱 Many of my clients have spoken about the same big fear. They are scared that the career path they are on now is the same path you they will be on in one, three or five years. If you are not enjoying your job you can feel trapped: It might be: The bills you need to pay 😨 What your friends and family will say if you make a career change 😨 The amount of time you have invested in this career path already 😨 The thought that you are destined for this same path for years can be terrifying. However, the story you tell yourself is often worse than the reality. In the same way I managed to find my way home safely, if you allow yourself time to: 🔹Pause and think where you REALLY want to go in your career Then 🔹You can then make a plan to get there. Good luck! You don't need to be scared. If you don’t want to be scared by your career path, ring the 🔔 in the top right to hear more or drop me a message for a chat. #Coaching #CareerChange #CareerCoaching #Scared #CourageousCareerChange

People say it's normal to not like your career. Not completely true. It's normal and possible to not enjoy your job, or even the field your career happens to be in. The differentiating factor is your level of commitment and satisfaction. A job can become a career based on just how much you enjoy that field. When you start to feel yourself waiver at a career it might be time to take a step back and analyze where those feelings are coming from. "When did this career that I chose become a job that I dread every day?" "What could I change about my career to make it more enjoyable?" These are things to think about when you update your resume (which you should always keep it up to date!) What's a job you stepped away from or a career you have changed? #selfcare #virtualassistantlife #mentalhealth #jobsatisfaction #alaskasmallbusiness #entrepreneur

You know the feeling all too well... An inner itch... A nudge... A knowing... It feels like there's a lasso pulling you toward a new career path, but you are hesitant to comply. You know where you want to go because you've thought about it over and over again... but you're stopped short because of all the "reasons" in your mind to NOT to. -- You fear risk and uncertainty. -- You worry a job or career change might mean a pay cut. -- You've become comfortable in what you're doing, and it's scary to even *think* of trying something new. The truth is, friends, our time here is limited. You don't want to look back and feel regret or think to yourself "If only I had taken a chance on ME...". The time to invest in YOU and YOUR DREAMS is now. Are you finally ready to take that next step? ✨ #jobseekers #jobsearching #careers #hiringandpromotion

I heard something over the weekend that truly blew my mind. Sometimes fear disguises itself as practicality. I see it all the time with those who know deep down inside, it’s time to find career fulfillment but they are too fearful to commit taking steps to get to higher ground. 🚪I’ll start a job search when life slows down. 🚪 I’m so busy with my job and managing life, how could I possibly integrate a job search? 🚪 Maybe things will get better at my job. I just need to give things more time. 🚪 I can’t afford to invest in myself. 🚪 Who am I to want more? Using practicality is simply a way to protect ourselves and keep us in our comfort zones. Reality check: There’s never a good time or the right time to pursue big goals like making a job change or starting a business. But if it’s a priority, then we will be willing to make changes and make room in our lives to make this dream a reality. What do you think are some of the practical reasons that are holding you back or closing the door to make a career/job change?

Job searching is tough. I had this long, drawn out post with typical tips and tricks for staying motivated and focused during a job search.. For every rejection, do 5 more solid applications. 💪🏾 Troubleshoot your strategy and try something new. 🌟 Seek feedback, or ask for help. 🆘 Just focus on the positive and ignore the negativity. 😉 . . . . But all that just seems insensitive at this point. Some of my peers have been looking for a job for over 6 months. Others, it’s been years. Motivation isn’t the problem. Mounting debt, family obligations, important life goals getting pushed back, threat of homelessness… those are all amble motivators. You don’t need any advice from me. Instead, I’ll just pray for your serenity to accept the things you can’t change, the courage to act when the time comes, and the wisdom to know the difference. Unemployment brings uncertainty, anxiety, and stress. And we tend to look for the magic pill. At the same time, I see more and more content about career coaches, communities, and boot camps. All promising a clearer path to employment. And the temptation is big! But the truth is, each of these avenues requires immense work and effort. I used to hop from one strategy to another, thinking, “This didn’t work, let me try this next thing”. Or “That’s not new, what’s the secret?”. I figured that the more I scatter my energy, the less I invest in making any one path successful. So I’ve brought back on my board the quote that says “The Magic that you're looking for, is in the work you are avoiding.” This quote has since kept me focused. It reminds me not to chase the next secret and not to get caught in big context switches. It reminds me to focus on what I need to do to secure my job - put in the hard work. And it saves some good money. Have you found yourself chasing quick fixes in your career journey?

Some people don't want to be managers. Some people don't want to move up. Some people don't want to be entrepreneurs. Why are we shaming? Some jobseekers want a job. A 9-5 with a paycheck and benefits. That's it. Plain and simple. Some want a career. Something that lets them move up, take on more. Something that inspires, motivates, excites. Plain and simple. Neither choice is wrong. Neither choice should be looked down on. Neither makes someone less intelligent, motivated or driven. Why do so company "experts" tell jobseekers their choices are wrong. They simply aren't. They're just different than yours. The only ideal job for you is the one that YOU want, not what the gurus tell you should go after. The job journey is different for each of us. More support, less shame. Be a good human.
