'I run an internal accessibility Expo for GAAD at Rebellion, where we invite charity guests like SpecialEffect and RNIB, showcase our own work, and other things to be inspired by. It’s a fantastic event for our team, to get them interacting with subject matter experts and seeing some of the things we’re up to across our projects! These moments of talking to experts, getting hand on with accessible hardware, and testing features and tools in other projects helps us get a more rounded understanding of accessibility inside and outside of Rebellion, and helps inspire us to innovate. I am inspired when the teams are inspired, and this is why events like this matter. It helps us all think about accessibility in our work and drives us to create games more people can play.' 🌍 This #InternationalHumanitarianDay, let’s shine a spotlight on the incredible work of Mobile Mini Circus for Children in Afghanistan. MMCC Global Inspired by children-centred participatory pedagogy, the Mobile Mini Circus has developed and grown in both scale and impact. The model is built on the assumption that when working in a context where resources continue to be limited, the key assets to development are the children and the communities themselves. 🔍 This year, Samuel Hall embarked on a mission: identifying interventions that can be both scaled and sustained in Afghanistan. Our team found that social circuses are the right answer to building alternative education pathways, particularly for underserved communities, and social cohesion across Afghanistan. Founded in 2002, The MMCC and its local partner, the Afghan Educational Children’s Circus (AECC) has expanded into a countrywide education program focusing on teaching children to lead. In doing so, MMCC has created safe spaces for children, nurturing their growth and talents which is vital for sustaining positive change. Social circus is a unique psycho-social intervention, often seen as a “catalyst for change”, that encourages youth empowerment because it creates resilience by building social support, self-confidence, and interpersonal trust through circus art skills and community building. Samuel Hall’s pro-bono evaluation of Mobile Mini Circus for Children measured its impact across various areas. SH will continue to conduct pro bono evaluations as part of its implementation research portfolio, to uncover initiatives that require support and that have a proven impact. To help MMCC centres thrive, there is still a lot that needs to be done! Donors need to allocate funds for resources, help create opportunities for community gatherings, build capacity, partnerships and help ensure participation of young girls and women. To directly help the cause, contact development@samuelhall.org Watch this video to know more and stay tuned for our evaluation report and video.

In the vibrant realm of digital landscapes, where pixels dance to the rhythm of untold tales, a group of young girls has found their sanctuary – the world of gaming. In this pixelated wonderland, they not only conquer virtual realms but also break barriers in a reality where stereotypes persist. Help me give my students a opportunity to bridge the gap and address the underrepresentation of women in STEM and esports. Along with building a healthy safe environment for females to progress in gaming. https://lnkd.in/e4DX3fxP #girlsinstem #girlsintech #girlswhocode #girlswhogame

Observing the streets and open spaces, one might ask: where have all the children gone? The decline in outdoor play can be attributed to what Harriet Grant terms as the 'war on play'. 👉https://zurl.co/pk3i #importanceofplay #outdoorplay #outdoorfun #playground #playgroundequipment

Yesterday, my sister Alita Harvey-Rodriguez hosted another knock out #HackGames with a focus on charitable organizations. Hack Games 2024 entailed x5 teams, each with a problem statement. It was each teams job to unpack the problem (using team collaboration tools that my sister keeps me up to date with!) and present the best problem solving pitch possible! Everybody in attendance was enthusiastic, engaged and putting their best problem solving pitch forward! A great addition to this years Hack Games was the "Peoples Choice Award", which invited audience participation in voting for the best pitch. My sister constantly evolves her ideas. Without saying the "C" word, I will never forget the way she managed to adapt the Hack Games for years we couldn't all get together in person. Somehow, she always overcomes every obstacle and lands on her feet. The same way she would find every four leaf clover when we would be walking in the field and I never found one! I admire your resilience, your ability to adapt and pursue your visions to make things come alive in a way that entertains everybody, acknowledges everybody, engages everybody and brings enjoyment to everybody. You truly make brainstorming and learning fun! Needless to say, I am very proud of you and feel very sure to host any event, knowing I have you on my team! #MIacadamy #HackGames2024 #ProblemSolver #Hackathon

I’ve always believed football isn’t just about elite competition, performance, and rankings. Sport is about so much more than that. It’s also about creating opportunities for sectors that might not otherwise engage with it. That's why I was thrilled to hear about The Street Child World Cup 2026. It's a global event where teams of young people who've experienced homelessness or street living come together to play football. The purpose of this event is threefold: → Raise awareness about the challenges faced by children living and working on the streets. → Provide a platform for these children to share their stories. → Call for change and demand that their rights be protected. Remember: Football holds potential beyond winning and losing. It can make a positive difference in the lives of children and communities worldwide, creating opportunities for those who suffer from health issues, disabilities, and inequalities. So, thank you, Street Child United, for organizing this global event.

“Most parks have more facilities for dog waste than for teenage girls”😡 Our friends at Make Space for Girls have published their ParkWatch report. The report looked at who was using the facilities aimed at teenagers in parks. The results are shocking, but not surprising. - Overall 88% of users of these facilities were boys - On Multi Use Games Areas (MUGAs), the most popular facility, 92% of users were boys - On skate parks and BMX tracks, 84% of users were boys MUGAs, BMX tracks and skate parks make up 90% of facilities that the local councils surveyed in the report fund and 90% of their users are boys. That means that these councils are in effect spending just 10% of the money they spend on park facilities on girls. We know from our research that teenage girls don’t feel parks are spaces for them – and this report shows why. But we also know that if we listen to teenage girls and design parks with them in mind then we can change this and make parks a welcoming space for everyone.🏞️ Read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/ezqgzCKV

Raise social awareness through gamification! 📢💡For the American non-profit organization #RISE, we teamed up with On Board Experiential to launch a mobile game with a storyline that educates the sports community about discrimination and empowers them for social justice and racial equity. “Together We Rise” is a endless runner game that seamlessly blends fun with education, challenging players with quiz questions on vital social skills. Some of these questions, for instance, come directly from real-life examples of famous athletes who have persevered through discrimination in their sports careers and focus on Rise ’s charge of equipping young athletes with the tools to overcome discrimination and empower them for social justice in their lives. This experience is represented in the game, where players must rise through clouds of discrimination as a single spark—an approach that uses serious gaming to help users overcome discrimination in real life. 🙌 Check out our case page for more info on this special project ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e-x8F74v #TogetherWeRise #SocialJustice #SeriousGaming #RiseAgainstDiscrimination #InclusiveGaming #Demodern #CreativeTechnologies Demodern — Creative Technologies
