And we’re off! The Maritime Decarbonization Summit is underway. Key leaders from the cruise and shipping industries dove deep into future fuel demands and technology trends to drive the industry’s sustainable transition.
Participants heard from our President and CEO Jason Liberty and Our Chief People & Outreach Officer overseeing environmental initiatives Dana Ritzcovan, who moderated a panel with our Head of Marine Palle Laursen.
Together, we’re SEAing the Future!
Hey Facebook friends. Need your advice with an issue that I have with #royalcaribbeancruise, #RCCL with regards to a cruise that we were supposed to take in 2020 but due to a COVID it did not go. At the time we asked for a refund and they said they do not refund, and they gave us one year "EXCEPTION" as they call it, to book a new cruise which ended unbeknownst to me in 2022. They now say they will not credit me anything so my money just disappeared? They never contacted me in any way about their arbitrary rule. I don’t know what to do. Should I contact a lawyer, write to the BBB or contact the Governor's office? I try to get answers, why I don't have a credit, from the cruise line but they are not cooperating. Has anyone else had this experience? What do you suggest?
Decarbonizing the maritime sector is critical to meeting global climate goals. Innovations like alternative fuels, energy efficiency, and digitalization will be key to reducing emissions from shipping. I'm excited to see the industry making progress on this important challenge.

Sustainablity is particularly important in todays society, as the effects of climate change continue to impact our environment and the ways in which we’re living our lives.
PR is an excellent tool that we can use to emphasise the importance of change and it can be used to communicate how change is being made and how it can be made.

Today is a special day to me 💙 It marks the four year anniversary of announcing the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping We launched in between COVID lock-downs, sincerely hoping that decarbonization was still relevant although the world was suffering a collective COVID shock.
And while we, the team, the many many brilliant people involved, the A.P. Møller Fonden, the founding partners NYK Line, MAN Energy Solutions, Siemens, Cargill, A.P. Moller - Maersk, American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had no real idea of what COVID might mean, they leaned in. I like to think because everyone felt it was the right thing to do. And in hindsight - it was more relevant than ever! 🌎
Four years down the line, I almost can not believe the platform we have created!
💪 130 people from a wide range of disciplines are giving 💯% of their working time to enable decarbonization⚓ and more than 100 partners collaborate to accelerate the transition through activities such as ⬇ Reducing fleet energy demand, 💧 enabling the safe use of green fuels such as Ammonia, 🌐 facilitating the development of green corridors, and by ⚖ supporting and influencing policy and initiatives to scale decarbonization.
Since 2020, things have evolved much faster than anticipated, and the importance of the different drivers of change may have shifted. Seeing the pace of industry action, I firmly believe that the remaining technology related challenges will be solved shortly. Now, all eyes are on the IMO acknowledging that global regulation is key 🗝
And, while many things change, (at least) one core pillar of the center vision remains: We want to enable and empower the ecosystem to act by sharing, free of charge, our knowledge our blueprints, methodologies and playbooks 📚
The past 4 years have been crazy busy, frustrating, difficult and challenging. But its also been crazy fun and rewarding - thanks to the people, my colleagues, who have joined the ride. Its always about the people 💚
