It is showing me that even though it may be hard trying something new, you definitely should push for new experiences and push yourself to be the best you can” How has being in STS Elite helped you personally? “STS helped me on my journey by pushing and believing in me. When I first started STS I was very quiet and to myself. They helped me open up and it worked out for the better. The coaches were persistent in seeing me succeed and giving me different tips, tools & advice to be the professional I desire to be. We care about students when they are in BST, but also the life beyond BST. The inaugural August Careers Booster event was held for current and past students and a few parents. Hosted by Ms Yamada, Assistant Head, Development, Partnerships and Alumni, a panel of brilliant #BSTalumni shared their experience of post BST study, work and life. It was impressive to hear questions about everything from A Level combinations to gap year plans, and see the wealth of experience and the scale of ambition amongst our alumni. We're already planning next year's event for late August! The event was kindly sponsored by Cathay Pacific . BST alumni panelists: Christopher Davies - studying Architecture at Edinburgh University, currently interning at KleinDytham Artchitecture discussed making the most of internships and building a professional network. Charles Wiggins - studying Mech Eng at Bath University talked about how he got offered a job through excellent performance at his internship, how he's using his Japanese, and interpersonal skills. Minami Street - studying Medicine at Birmingham University, talked about how sport at university helps you to develop workplace skills and hones time management and leadership abilities. Akane Hayashi - studying Liberal Arts at Kings College London discussed her various writing jobs, and how she won a summer work experience place at The Financial Times. William Brett - Management Trainee at Swire Group, HK, based in Chicago (international business, studied International Relations at Edinburgh) talked about how tough it was to secure a graduate job at a top firm. He gave interview and application tips and gave the advice: 'prepare to be rejected, it's part of the process, I applied to over 70 companies to get the five offers I received'.

These 4-6 week experiences include career mentorship, skill development, and group + independent work aligned with scholars' academic and career interests. 👉🏾 WHY THIS MATTERS - Gallup studies show that 40% of college students have had an internship while in undergrad. The 60% that have not (disproportionally first-gen students) cite difficulty in obtaining one, aligning internships and interests, and the inability to afford it as some of the top barriers. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, paid interns are about twice as likely to land a job after graduation compared to non-interns. With Taco Bell, we are committed to increasing awareness and access to these game-changing experiences that help young leaders develop professional connections, level up skills in demand, and build out their portfolio to showcase their skills in action.
