We will be discussing the topic of what employers are doing to support their employees after traumatic events at our wellness roundtable tomorrow at the #ACCAM23. I am really curious to hear what employers are doing. I am encouraged by the employers that have already signed this pledge, but there is still a lot more work to be done. For those asking what can you do to help support your coworkers, employees, business partners, friends, etc., here are some helpful resources. https://lnkd.in/gbTKVWC9 https://lnkd.in/g8YyNf8F

Once again, UCare's people power has propelled us to new heights – this time earning national recognition. Based on our outstanding performance in last year’s Star Tribune Top Workplaces program, USA TODAY and Energage recognized UCare as a 2024 Top Workplace in the country. Among companies our size (1,000 - 2,499 employees) UCare was recognized as: 🏆 The #22 highest ranked employer in the entire nation across all industries 🏆 The #1 highest ranked employer in Minnesota across all industries 🏆 The #1 highest ranked health plan in the entire nation This is such an amazing honor, and we owe it all to the 98% - yes that's right, 98%! - of UCare employees who responded to the workplace survey. It confirms what I've always known. UCare has one of the most highly engaged, people powered workplace cultures in the country. How do we do it? We prioritize making UCare a place where every employee feels seen and heard, and feels like they belong. It's truly my honor to lead an organization with this culture. 😍 https://lnkd.in/gYx6DnaM

Results of the national NHS Staff Survey 2023 were released today, and we're pleased to say we've improved in all nine areas that they measure! Over half of our colleagues filled in the survey, and it shows a steadily improving picture - see below for some of the specific achievements in areas like: - The Trust as a great place to work - Colleague wellbeing - Respect, compassion and inclusion LGT Chief Executive Ben Travis said: “It’s always so vital for us to hear from our colleagues, to see where we are doing right by them and where the areas for improvement are in our Trust. Looking at all the improving scores – many of which we have seen rise for two years in a row – I’m really pleased with the progress we’ve made. With the well-known backdrop of the last few years’ challenges in the NHS, those steady improvements are all the more worthwhile. “We know as well that there is lots more that we can do for our colleagues and patients. We’ve recently set out a new, clear set of vision and values to take us forward with respect, compassion and inclusion at the forefront, and as always I have every confidence in our amazing group of colleagues to make LGT an even greater place to work in 2024.” Meera Nair, LGT’s Chief People Officer, said: “Over half of TeamLGT took time out of their busy days to fill in the NHS Staff Survey, so we now feel like we have a real mandate not only for continuing our programmes of work on colleague wellbeing, Freedom to Speak Up and more, but also to change those outstanding issues that still worry our colleagues and impact their work. The hard work of planning to get those scores up even higher next year starts here today.” We know there's always more we can do for our colleagues and patients alike, and checking in with our hard-working teams is a key piece of this puzzle. Thanks to all in #TeamLGT who took the time to fill it in, and who make the Trust such a fantastic workplace.

🎙️Coproduction and collaboration with the VCSE for business success, growth and innovation 🎙️ Romy-Jo Johnson from Humans Cornwall will be leading a Keynote session at The Care & Occupational Therapy Show on the 17th July! "Delving into a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of business growth and innovation: the untapped potential of collaboration with the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. As businesses navigate an ever-changing landscape, it's imperative to recognise the immense value that collaborating with VCSE organisations can bring. Despite this, many businesses are missing out on the opportunities this present. In this talk, we'll explore why this is the case and how businesses can not only engage with the VCSE sector but also harness the myriad benefits it offers to drive their success and innovation forward. Businesses often underestimate the value of working with VCSE organisations, viewing them solely through the lens of corporate social responsibility. However, this narrow perspective overlooks the broader potential for innovation, growth, and mutual benefit. By fostering strategic collaborations with your VCSE sector, businesses can access diverse talent pools, cost-effective and inclusive solutions, and expansive networks that fuel innovation and drive sustainable growth. Collaboration with the VCSE enables businesses to enhance their brand reputation, expand their market reach, and deepen customer engagement by aligning with socially conscious causes. Through this talk, I will provide some real insight to bring this subject to life and provide practical examples to effectively engage with this hidden gem of a sector and the benefits that can be derived." IPA President Josh Krichefski is calling on all advertising agency leaders to demonstrate their commitment to their people’s mental health and wellbeing by signing up to the #PeopleFirstIPA Promise. The People First Promise badge of honour, which will demonstrate duty of care to current employees and attract future talent is accompanied by a new Adland Wellbeing Lab and is underpinned by new IPA-commissioned data into mental health in the workplace. Commenting, Josh said: “If our people and our businesses are to thrive, it’s time to put their health and wellbeing at the forefront of everything we do, and prove we mean what we say. “I am a firm believer that it is much easier to put in place guardrails to help prevent poor mental health and wellbeing than it is to treat it. As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. But this takes commitment – demonstrable commitment - and investment from the top down. It is one thing to launch a policy or initiative – and that’s a great start, but what’s crucial is to embed it into the culture and everyday workings of your organisation. We must integrate mental health and wellbeing and not view it as an add-on. This is why it is vital that agency leaders commit to and evidence their activity in this area, and in doing so can earn the IPA People First Promise badge of honour. “By supporting and empowering our people, and working to prevent harms, I truly believe our people and our businesses will thrive now and in the future.” Find out more and get involved: https://ow.ly/GFuZ50QqtSo

Today is #WorldSightDay, an IAPB (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness) initiative. The theme this year is #LoveYourEyes and the focus is on the importance of eye care in the workplace. As an employment services provider supporting people living with vision impairment and blindness to find sustainable employment that suits their individual needs we are amplifying this message today as IAPB encourages employers to “make eye health initiatives standard practice and promote eye health habits that will benefit the wellbeing, safety and productivity of millions of employees. At CoAct we encourage staff to: *Practice eye care exercises by following the 20-20-20 rule - focus on an object 20 feet away, for 20 seconds, every 20 minutes, to reduce eye strain from prolonged screen use. *Try non-screen-based activities like sports, crafts or puzzles to help keep our minds active while giving our eyes a break, which can also reduce headaches, eye strain and generally boost our moods What initiatives have you experienced in the workplace that could inspire employers to prioritise eye care? Image description: A grey tile promotes the message ‘heart’ your eyes in white writing with a CoAct stamp underneath that reads every day not just today.
