We 💜 this article and Charlotte! What are some of your favorite things about CLT?
National Champion | Executive Coach | Author & Speaker | Leadership Development & Team Building Expert
What are some of my favorite things about living in Charlotte? There are honestly too many to count, but here are a few of the things that have made me love living in the Queen City. . 1. Number one will always be that I met my wife, Kelly, at an Alive After Five concert on the convention center rooftop in 1989. 2. Lake Norman is a naturally beautiful place, and I feel blessed to live near such a gorgeous lake. 3. Novanta restaurant in Langtree is one of my go-to date spots for me and my wife to get dinner. We eat there a lot. It’s a nice little community with shops and restaurants. They have live music. . ➡️ Check out the “My Favorite Things” article in the November issue of SouthPark Magazine for more details on the people, places, and things that I like best about Charlotte. Here’s the link to the entire article: https://lnkd.in/gKGGrYPs . . #southparkmagazine #myfavoritethings #clt #ilovecharlotte #charlotteliving #inthenews #cltbusiness #cltsports

Ever heard of St. Andrew's Day? It's celebrated by Scottish people and their descendants around the world on November 30. It isn't an official holiday here in Canada, but there are plenty of celebrations involving eating, drinking and dancing! It may sound odd, but tradition is an important part of change. Too often, we are so focused on the future that we neglect to remember and honour the traditions and practices that can help support us during times of change. For me, remembering and celebrating St. Andrew's Day helps me connect with my ancestors and heritage. If you're leading change on a project, remember to ask your stakeholders questions about team traditions or festivities. Incorporating well-known practices can help ground and support a team that's going through change. If you're planning change in your personal or professional life, consider what traditions are important to you. Traditions don't have to be big, or well-known to make an impact. Do you have traditions or practices that help ground you during times of change? Let me know in the comments! #ChangeWithoutPain #ChangeManagement #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #HappyStAndrewsDay2023

As we embrace the vibrant hues of Holi, the festival teaches us invaluable lessons in leadership and personal and professional development. This festival, celebrated across diverse cultures, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the importance of love and forgiveness, and the joy of spring's arrival. It encourages us to break down barriers, fostering inclusivity and unity, much like a leader who builds strong, cohesive teams. In the realm of personal development, Holi inspires us to let go of past grievances, akin to the practice of burning Holika. It's a reminder that forgiveness and moving forward are essential for growth. Professionally, this translates into resolving conflicts and nurturing positive workplace relationships, essential for teamwork and collaboration. The playful exchange of colors represents diversity and the acceptance of different perspectives, crucial for innovation and creativity in any field. Charis Tucker, @Nancy Gard McGehee, Zheng "Phil" Xiang and Berkita S. Bradford, PhD (Virginia Polytechnic Insitute and State University - Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management) analyze the importance of individual judgments by developing a valid and reliable scale which measures how Black travelers evaluate the legitimacy of destination marketing organizations. ▶ The findings extend legitimacy theory by measuring relational legitimacy which considers how organizations affirm one’s identity. ▶ Results demonstrate the value of representation in marketing, employees, and tourism products/services. 💡 Authors stablish recommendations from the Black Traveler DMO. #Blacktravel #legitimacy #tourism #DMO Tucker, C. Goodness, a world away, a lifetime ago – but oh what an experience to learn and analyse the ecosystem of an outstanding customer experience provider. From back of house, through the service line to front of house and the systems and procedures in between – I feel lucky to have had a taste of this glorious playground and how each and every touch-point can create a memorable moment! I remember writing a report about my time at Gleneagles – a study requirement to complete your practical. Not only was it reflective on my personal learnings there, but it was an observation about an ecosystem of care. Care for their customers, staff, the environment and wider community. Gleneagles operational excellence was wrapped around their total quality management in practice, with a focus on continuous improvement. ISO qualified and committed to the very best standards, yet relaxed, welcoming, warm and well, glorious! These foundations are still invaluable to formulating true human-led CX today. Blending technology, storytelling, service design and culture. Invaluable parts to a wholistic CX ecosystem, no matter your seniority or skill set. I still can't recommend enough how hospitality experience can inform and enrich real-time understanding of real customer needs, empathy, emotion, pressure and expectations in the flesh. If you want to explore more about their commitment today, check out their impact here for a taste of how they define their glorious: gleneagles.com/our-impact What a legacy to own 100 years on - here's to 100 more! 🙏 👏🥂🍾🚂💨⛳️
100 Years of The Glorious Playground 🥂 100 years ago on this day, the 7th June 1924, we opened the doors to The Gleneagles Hotel. Our magnificent countryside estate in the heart of Scotland was described as a “Riviera in the Highlands” and the media hailed it “the eighth wonder of the world”. Cocktails poured from taps; lively dancing in our ballroom was broadcast across the nation on BBC radio; glamorous guests raced each other by land, air and sea to get here first; and princes, playwrights and poets spent entire summers on our croquet lawn in a haze of Champagne. Going into 2024 as a multi-award winning estate, we reflect on our history, spanning high times and wartimes and look towards the next 100 years alongside our inaugural Edinburgh home, Gleneagles Townhouse. Gleneagles beats with a warm heart and is a home from home – a welcoming place where our people and guests feel they truly belong. On our 100th Anniversary we thank everyone who has been part of our story so far, and our story still to come. #LoveGlen #TheGloriousPlayground

A lot of us grew up being chastised for the marks we missed instead of being praised for what we got correct. Even if one gets 80%, the focus would be on the missing 20%. This feedback loop replays itself in adulthood where we focus on our weaknesses and downplay our strengths. It takes quite a bit of unlearning to operate to one's strengths. Learn2Lead, this is a great reminder that encourages leaders to seek flow and operate to their natural abilities instead of constantly trying to re-wire their brains. 🙏
Amplifying the strengths versus weaknesses In corporate we normally classify a lot of things in colour. For example if an action item is pending it’s likely to be marked in yellow. If it’s over due in red. And if it’s completed it is marked in green. This makes it easier to see where we are doing well and where we need improvement. Some one said in a meeting recently that the greens we don’t need action plans for. I disagree . These are the areas that need to be amplified more than the reds- we need to keep reinforcing what we are doing well. There is enough noise out there - let’s embrace peaceful music. Amplifying where we are doing well goes a long way to creating a more conducive culture.
