Are you prepared? All school nurses should have a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan in place for your students and staff. Schools that practice Sudden Cardiac Arrest drills have a 70% chance of a positive outcome versus 10% survival for those that do not. Healthcare providers know the power of practice. If you don't practice, you are not prepared. https://lnkd.in/gqpssMAB

Did you know that FMC hosts a Stroke Support Group Meeting monthly for caregivers of stroke patients? We encourage our caregivers to attend, not only when their loved one is in the hospital but also after they are discharged. We know that the biggest support group a patient has is their caregiver, and we also know caregivers do not have all the support they need. Each month different topics are discussed, this month our APPs are talking about the Relationship of the Heart and Stroke, as well as a special speaker from House Call Counseling speaking on The Healing Benefits of Meditation! Director Transfer Science Division, JBI (formerly known as Joanna Briggs Institute), University of Adelaide
The June issue of the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) sheds light on a critical topic: Pressure Injury Prevention in Adult Critically Ill Patients. Maintaining skin integrity is paramount, especially for those in intensive care settings where patients are vulnerable to pressure injuries due to prolonged immobility. The JBI Evidence Implementation Summary demonstrates the importance of proactive measures in preventing these injuries. Pressure injuries not only cause physical discomfort but also pose serious health risks, including infections and delayed recovery. By improving the delivery of care to align with best practice, healthcare providers can significantly reduce the incidence of pressure injuries among critically ill patients. Let's prioritize skin integrity to ensure better outcomes for all patients.
The June issue of the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) is available now, featuring another JBI implementation report summary - on topic: Pressure Injury Prevention in Adult Critically Ill Patients https://lnkd.in/gdessTpi JBI Evidence Implementation Amy Collins Carl Kirton DNP, RN, MBA, ANP, FAAN

ACLS algorithms are important because they provide a clear plan for doctors and nurses to follow during emergencies like cardiac arrest. These step-by-step guides help medical teams quickly assess the situation and take the right actions to save lives. By following ACLS algorithms, healthcare providers can give treatments like CPR and defibrillation in the right order and at the right time. This structured approach increases the chances of a person surviving a cardiac emergency.

Reading this story warms my heart, and makes me take pause to thank God and count my blessings for being a part of such an amazing group of professionals. Dianne is one of many who have made such a profound impact on the lives of our patients over the past decade since we initiated our unique, all-clinical, embedded model as a solution to a broken risk model that then- and (unfortunately)now still exists and falls short of what could be offered to patients at their Wellness Visits. In clinic in the past couple of weeks in Kansas City and Wichita, I've had several patients hug me and thank me for such a great experience, for taking time with them, for providing so much education, coaching, and teaching. For caring. Reminding me that someone had previously come to their home and 'just asked a bunch of questions'. My parents too have called me almost annually to vent over a visit with their Doctor, Mid-Level, and home vendor where they cite 'a waste of our time', and yet I remind them that they are retired, have plenty of time on their hands, and even if someone is at least taking their blood pressure there is value in that visit. My intention is to never throw a fellow healthcare provider under the bus, to recognize the world within which we live, and the shortcomings of a model that has long penetrated the risk assessment world. Healthcare Providers are busy- more than ever, and we must be industry disruptors if we expect change. A clinical model, that fosters the highest level of compliance, patient satisfaction, gap closure, and facilitation/hand-off of care through appropriate delineation of roles between Wellness NP and treating provider integrating seamlessly is sorely needed, and I am proud of Team Transtreme and our ability to implement this model. Dianne's story below is not uncommon, and yet so impactful, and a huge kudos to her for her commitment to excellence! #TeamTranstreme #blessed #Transtreme #wellnessvisit
🏥 Stories From The Heart: A Life Saved, A Heartfelt Impact 🏥 We wanted to share an incredible recent highlight featuring one of our amazing nurses – Dianne, from our Los Angeles Team. Dianne’s dedication and quick action recently made a life-saving difference for a patient, and it truly showcases the profound impact we have on the lives of those we care for. During a HV AHA, Dianne encountered a couple, and her vigilant assessment revealed something concerning – the husband had a dangerously low heart rate- below 40. Dianne's expertise and thoroughness left no room for uncertainty as she checked multiple times, both with her equipment and manual methods, but the heart rate remained unchanged. She immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation and instructed them to head to the ER. She also reached out to the cardiologist for further assistance. Days later, a message appeared on her Teams platform, requesting Dianne to call the patient. Little did she know that this call would become the heartwarming confirmation of the impact she had made. In Dianne’s words, on the line was the very same patient, filled with gratitude and saying, "thank you because I was the reason he is still with his family." The couple had acted upon Dianne's advice, and the patient was admitted promptly for an ICD/pacemaker placement, making all the difference in his life. #Transtreme #HealthcareHeroes #PatientStories #LifeSavingImpact #TeamTranstreme
