Today’s article shared by Shravan Tickoo is “Get One Thing Right” by Andy Dunn, the Co-Founder and CEO of Bonobos. In the article, Andy sheds light on the power of focusing on one exceptional product. Andy argues that consumers only need one outstanding thing from a company, and founders should prioritize making that one thing great before considering diversification. The focus on a singular, high-quality product is seen as crucial in a digitally-driven retail landscape, where competition is intense, and customer expectations are high. Let’s take on the example of Crocs and understand what Andy says “Make one thing great. Get one thing right” Singular Product Focus: Crocs started with a bang, placing the spotlight on their iconic foam clogs – the comfort kings despite being deemed kinda-ugly. The success of the Singular Product: Witnessing over 720 million units sold since 2002, Crocs' foam clogs became more than just a product; they became a sensation, captivating a diverse consumer base. Potential for Expansion: From this singular success, Crocs strategically expanded within the clog category, introducing variations for toddlers, women, men, and more. Today, they boast over 30 colour variations and even offer customization options through Jibbitz. Continued Success: Despite the initial "kinda-ugly" reputation, Crocs continues to thrive, turning their unique identity into a trend. Memes, collaborations with Balenciaga, and guest designers like Drew Barrymore – they've embraced their distinctiveness and turned it into enduring brand power. Andy Dunn's wisdom rings true – "Make one thing great. Get one thing right." Crocs exemplifies how focusing on excellence in a singular product can lead to a legacy of innovation, diversity, and sustained success. #Entrepreneurship #SuccessStories #BusinessStrategy #Crocs #AndyDunn #ProductFocus #Innovation #BrandSuccess #artandproductmusings

𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐎? Remember GOTO? Yes, we all do. Remember Grab? Yes, we all do. And i bet we all know how well they are doing after their IPO. So, here we have SHEIN. I have not heard of SHEIN until a couple of months back. I have downloaded it and tried it. And I just can't see how it is better than other apps such as Taobao, Wedian or 1688. Yes, it makes sense for a the English speaking of International markets but I just can't seem to find much unique proposition here (except for removing the language barrier). It is essentially a mega aggregator of all the chinese apps. Yes, it also filters out the rest and lists only fashion goods and items but does that deliver enough value to its customers? The language barrier can easily be overcome. And perhaps that is the reason why SHEIN is in a hurry to go IPO. With AI, it is perhaps now or never for SHEIN to list and get money from the retail markets. But my advice to all of you out there: think twice before you subscribe to the IPO offering. What do you think of SHEIN? Leave your comments below please. #business #startups #ceoinsights #management #IPO #technology. https://lnkd.in/gs5uHjaM

I really appreciate that the cost of living is high. Buying "cheap" clothes in the long run is not "cheap" for you, or the planet. I've also been reading "Less" by Patrick Grant which makes me sad, and also hopeful that there is another way. I really recommend it, and challenge you to buy quality rather than disposable, cheap, plastic clothes. #qualityoverquantity #setanexample

We are about to witness how kind our law makers are! Will they go with need or greed 🤔 If you didn't already know, one of unkindest brands on the planet wishes to list on the London Stock Exchange. SHEIN US lawmakers moved to block the brand listing on the New York Stock Exchange. They chose kindness, they chose to do the right thing by people, the planet and the future. Now the fabulous Venetia La Manna and Grace Blakely, backed by Mary Portas and Caroline Lucas MP Brighton Pavilion have started a campaign calling on Keir Starmers Labour Party to reject the IPO application, asking the government to carry out investigations into the operations of the business and it's place in our society today. They also call for the introduction of mandatory legislation for social and environmental responsibility. Basically it's a call to action to do the right thing. Kind action! And why? As London financiers get excited about it's potential £50bn valuation and boost to London's Capital Markets, Sheins success is incredibly detrimental to human life, nature, the environment, economies, communities and good business. The brand ethos: 😔 Modern Slavery 😔 Products containing hazardous chemicals 😔 Uncertified supply chains 😔 Clothes full of microplastics 😔 Exploits and plagiarises designers The brand churns out 1 million items a day! Nothing good produces stock at that rate. We've already have enough clothes in circulation to last the next seven generations. But this campaign puts more power in your hands to create change. Your voice, and more importantly, your actions matter. Saying NO to Shein has two asks. 🙏 Please don't buy from them 🙏 Sign the petition to ask the government to take action and do the right thing I will also pop the links for the video, campaign and petition in the comments. If you truly wish to create a kinder fairer world, this is a great opportunity to put your words into action. It's simple really. It's just being kind 💛 #NeedOverGreed #UnethicalBusiness #SayNoToShein

Really interesting take on how corporate governance can race to the top of the agenda and become higher profile. Interesting to hear views on this proposed listing - good or bad for London? @thelawdebenture

Thanks to Christine Tao for posting this and coming into my feed. This is great example of a good use of AI with not only iteration but proper labelling of data/classifiers to make the data clean such that the AI becomes actionable and useful. Please read the article on insights to avoid garbage in/garbage out problems and also working on disparate data silos. Also another example where AI wins - in a highly verticalized, for lack of a better word, fashion.

Chinese fast fashion startup Shein may list in the U.K. amidst fears that it may fail to receive approval from the U.S. SEC to list in New York. U.K.'s finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, met up with Shein's chairman, Donald Tang, to persuade the company, although the firm's first preference is the U.S. Earlier this month, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio urged the SEC to block Shein's listing in the U.S. unless the firm provides additional disclosures about its operations. Shein had confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO in November last year. Per reports, the firm was targeting an IPO valuation of between $80B and $90B. At the time, Shein's valuation had dropped by a third from the peak of $100B to about $66B when it raised a $2B funding round last May. If Shein does list in the U.K., it might be the second-largest listing held at the London Stock Exchange after Glencore International's debut. Several British companies, including chipmaker Arm, have gone public on foreign shores, causing a dip in public listings in the U.K. Arm debuted on Nasdaq at a valuation of £48.5B ($61.5B).
Could Shein’s IPO be a rare win for London?

This is a great read for many of us who used to be enamored with the wonders and magic of Silicon Valley. It has truly transitioned from incubator of new ideas to make life better to a money laundering and cash grab operation. As Jeffrey so perfectly states. People and planet deserve better. NOTE: There are some brilliant startups I work with and observe, who don't provide the glitz and glamour but are facing real societal challenges head on. But they require patience coupled with capital. #venturecapital #hedgefund #iponews
In light of the news about SHEIN’s (confidential) IPO filing, I wrote about "Innovation as Organized Crime" (IaOC). Behind the laudatory headlines about renewed vigor in the IPO market and the continued triumph of tech-, sorry AI-, enabled fast fashion is an ongoing RICO case and a wider commercial environment that celebrates innovation as unconstrained growth, even if (especially if) it elides pesky regulatory barriers. Emerging from the intersection of regulatory retrenchment and a distinct brand of Silicon Valley libertarianism, IaOC is vaunted as the pinnacle of high growth businesses. We deserve better. #strategy #innovation #commerce #TRI

🔥 TRAFFIK: Where European Fashion Meets the LA Hustle 🔥 As an entrepreneur in the bustling world of fashion, I've always been passionate about the intersections of style, storytelling, and service. At TRAFFIK, our mission is clear: making European fashion resonate powerfully in the US narrative. Let's break down our recent stats, which perfectly encapsulate our dedication: ✨ From our last 50 pulls: 30% curated for high-profile editorials. We're talking about narratives that aren't just about fabric, but about fashion revolutions. 30% made those unforgettable moments on the red carpet. Where design, intent, and the right moment collide under the paparazzi's gaze. 30% appeared on your TV screens - marking interviews, performances, and moments that will be remembered. And the final 10%? They rocked the world of music videos, proving once again that fashion isn't just a backdrop, but often the lead guitarist in the symphony of visuals. 🚀 But here’s the kicker: in the world of PR, time is often tighter than the most figure-hugging dress. An astounding 80% of these pulls had less than a 2-day lead time. Yet, our team ensured perfection in every delivery within LA, absorbing the extra costs. NYC deliveries, mainly for those iconic editorials, averaged at less than $100/request. Local dispatches? Just $30 on average. Efficiency, speed, and economy – the TRAFFIK way! We're not just about moving fashion; we're about moving narratives, changing perceptions, and, most importantly, ushering in the future of fashion amidst the challenges of sustainability, tech integration, and the ever-evolving consumer preference. In this era of fast fashion, sustainability concerns, and the cry for genuine inclusion, TRAFFIK stands as a beacon for what's possible when passion meets purpose. To the designers, stylists, and innovators: we're here, we're ready, and together, let's make fashion history! 🌟 #FashionForward #TRAFFIK #EuropeanFashionInLA #Sustainability #Inclusion #Diversity #DigitalRevolution

🎯Snitch – An All Shark Deal!🎯 One of the most talked about deals in Shark Tank India is the one received by Snitch.co.in. A homegrown, boot-strapped (before shark tank) fast fashion clothing brand for men. I remember watching this episode a while back and being in absolute awe of the grit and determination of the founder Siddharth DUNGARWAL Initially set up as a B2B venture, the wholesaler opted for the D2C path to clear up its excess inventory. Little did they know that this step would alter the entire landscape and open doors that one didn’t even know existed! While we saw innumerable startups fail during the pandemic, this particular brand flourished and how. Snitch focused on its online presence in 2020 and in 4 years, it hit the milestone of achieving 5000+ orders in a day! Positioned as a brand, that offers quality products at affordable prices, it aims to compete with Zara and H&M in the near future. Although Zara and H&M are beloved go-to brands for all fashion needs, they have a noticeable gap in their assortment of men's fast fashion products. Snitch capitalized on this gap when it first set out to acquire customers. It became one of the first ever brands to launch co-ord sets for men thus redefining fashion as the need of the hour and not of the gender! The story of Snitch reemphasizes on how a strong motive can overcome all obstacles. If we keep our eye on the end goal, the derailments, no matter how big, seem small in comparison. One who strives, is the one who thrives! SNITCH truly an inspiration! #SharkTank #Startups #Future
