We are thrilled to announce that Kura Labs’ founder and CEO, Sheldon Gilbert, will be featured in the upcoming documentary “Black Table”, premiering this weekend at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival. “Black Table”, directed by John Antonio James and Bill Mackby, chronicles Yale’s class of 1997, the largest class of Black students in the university's nearly 300-year history. The film follows these students from their gatherings at the “Black Table” during their time at Yale into their diverse paths in adulthood. Among them, Sheldon Gilbert's journey from a Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics student to an entrepreneur is highlighted, showcasing his leadership at Kura Labs, a non-profit Cloud Infrastructure Computing training academy, while balancing his role as a tech company founder and a father. The documentary captures Sheldon’s impactful work, including his travels to his birthplace, St. Lucia, where Kura Labs has made significant strides. The film delves into Kura Labs' mission to educate the next wave of Infrastructure Computing Engineers, and its plans to expand into Cybersecurity and AI Infrastructure Computing. St. Lucian Kura students are featured, sharing firsthand the transformative impact Kura Labs has had on their lives. Kura Labs Alumni have collectively generated $15 million in new wages for its students. Since its inception, Kura Labs has been dedicated to unlocking the potential of underserved communities across the U.S. and abroad by creating sustainable career opportunities and greater economic mobility in the 21st-century economy.
