An update from California Association for Nurse Practitioners regarding some of the legislature activity currently impacting nurses in California. "We are reaching out to share a crucial update on SB 1451 (Ashby), a bill that CANP is actively supporting to ensure nurse practitioners (NPs) can improve access to care throughout the state. Authored by Senator Angelique Ashby, SB 1451 includes critical language to facilitate the full and effective implementation of AB 890 (Wood, 2020). We have detailed the recent amendments to this bill to ensure you are well-informed about its progress and implications. In addition to recognizing "legacy certifications," these amendments streamline the application process for 103 and 104 NPs to ensure NPs can expand access to high-quality care as intended by law." https://lnkd.in/gWrQXD9t
This morning, #SB1451 by Senator Ashby passed the Assembly Committee on Business & Professions. Thank you to committee members who voted in support of this bill, which provides vital language to address hurdles impeding access to health care in California! #ClosetheProviderGap

Senate President Kathleen Passidomo used her 2024 Session Opening Day remarks to champion her plan to beef up Florida’s health care workforce and make improvements in health care delivery. Live Healthy aims to bolster Florida’s health care workforce and infrastructure and directs about $870 million to help get it done. Of that amount, $571.2 million would help increase the rates the state pays providers to treat the poor, elderly and disabled who rely on the safety net program. The biggest chunk of change — $195.8 million — would help increase the rates for home- and community-based providers. https://ow.ly/H9kG50QpwcP
