When people ask me about what we're doing at AIstats, I typically embark on an extensive explanation of our innovative ecosystem of football metrics and analyses. The screenshot below showcases two matches from the UEFA Champions League. Having watched one match live and another in recap, I can confidently state that AIstats' Real-time power charts for Club Atlético de Madrid Madrid and Borussia Dortmund align with my perception of these games at a 95% accuracy rate. The graphs display two charts each, illustrating that when a team's real-time power (rtP) surpasses the expected power (xP), it signifies the team performed significantly better than anticipated based on historical performance. Borussia Dortmund kicked off strongly, taking control early and scoring in the 3rd minute. Although they began to lose initiative, they maintained their standard quality of play, securing the victory and advancing to the quarterfinals. Atletico Madrid dominated throughout their match, and even several failed counterattacks and missed opportunities by Marcus Thuram couldn't detract from the overall dominance. [Yes, I know that the match lasted 120 mins:) We'll add extra times soon!] What does this mean for the general public? Our universal team-power model offers numerous avenues for enhancement. First, we're introducing a universal team rating to enable fans to make direct comparisons between teams. Similar to how EA Sports provides weekly player ratings in FIFA, we update our live ratings every minute for every team across 2200 leagues. Wondering who's superior, Stallone or Schwarzenegger? A whale or an elephant? Manchester City or Bayern Munich? There's no need for debate. AIstats will provide power rankings for you. Second, analyzing historic rtP performance could revolutionize in-game predictions. We plan to consider teams' performance in similar contexts, accounting for game moments, quality of performance, strength of the opponent, and more. This opens vast opportunities for fans and bettors to foresee game developments. Is your team losing? Don't lose hope! An analysis of expected team power and similar match scenarios suggests a comeback or even a win is possible. Third, we see an opportunity for gamification through non-monetary bets based on our data. We aim to introduce in-game challenges in a trivia format, allowing you to predict winners based on our graphs and metrics. This feature will not only entertain users but also educate them on how to analyze matches beyond simple metrics like ball possession or dumb xG (no offense to xG developers). Stay tuned for more updates on the AIstats ecosystem! ⚽ 🚀

Sportradar and UEFA Expand Deal for Champions League Data 📊 ⚽️ Sportradar and UEFA have extended and expanded their betting data relationship under a new three-year deal. This agreement allows Sportradar to exclusively distribute UEFA’s gambling data for events through the 2026-27 season, including the Champions League, Europa League, Women’s Euros 2025, and qualifiers for both the 2026 men’s World Cup and 2028 Euros. Additionally, Sportradar gains non-exclusive rights to sell data to non-betting media partners and rights to sell advanced tracking data collected by rival Genius Sports. 🏆 📈 The UEFA/Sportradar partnership now covers over 900 matches each season, aiming to enhance AI products with advanced player tracking data. The Champions League, one of the most watched football events globally, routinely reaches more than 400 million viewers, with the men’s Euro tournament also breaking viewership records. Financial specifics of the deal remain undisclosed, but it aligns UEFA’s data rights cycle with its media rights, many of which conclude after the 2026-27 season. 📊 🌍 Founded in 2001, Sportradar’s portfolio includes partnerships with major sports leagues such as the ATP, NBA, NHL, and MLB. The company reported a revenue of approximately $953 million in 2023, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. This expanded deal with UEFA solidifies Sportradar's position as a leading provider of sports data and analytics. 📉 📸: SportsMint Media #Sportradar #UEFA #ChampionsLeague #SportsData #BettingData #Football #Soccer #SportsAnalytics #UEFADataDeal #SportsBusiness

I advise professional football ⚽ clubs on growing audience and revenue in a positive, sustainable way.
Soccer teams (like all sports teams) make most of their money in 3 ways: * Game Day (tickets, parking, etc.) * Sponsorship and other commercial sources (merch, for example) * Broadcast But as they used to say on Sesame Street one of these things is not like the other... In the top European leagues (The Premier League, Lega Serie A, etc.) Broadcasting revenue dominates. Take a look at my absolutely flawless illustration below. AS Roma, awesome club, does very well with Matchday and Commercial revenue, but still, the Broadcast revenue is overwhelming. It makes the prospect of getting demoted to the next league down terrifying. Now look at a typical Major League Soccer team. Many of them will do roughly as well as Roma (or comparable) on Matchday and Commercial. The Broadcast line though is...improving but still not a major part of the revenue mix. Which leads me to an even more interesting point. Take a theoretical National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) team. Like MLS clubs, the fate of their matchday and commercial revenue is in their hands. If they build it, they get it. For now, US women's clubs are on a relatively even footing with men's clubs. If only because men's clubs broadcast revenue here hasn't gone stratospheric. Gargantuan broadcast revenues are a blessing, but also a danger. If you're in a league with big money coming in from TV, everybody in your league gets that big money. And guess what they're going to do with it... Spend it to beat you. All of it. And then some, usually. It's a Catch-22 in which the American clubs, including NWSL, don't currently find themselves. An interesting kind of opportunity. Let's see what they do with it. #sportsmarketing #soccer #football #nwsl #serieA #mls

⚽🔔Has UEFA rung 4K’s death knell?🔔💀 🔙 Nearly a decade after it first produced the UEFA Champions League final in 4K, the European soccer governing body decided that this year’s final (held earlier this month), the ongoing UEFA EURO 2024, and all future competitions would be produced in 1080p50 with single-layer HLG (hybrid-log gamma) HDR. 📺Broadcasters can upscale if they wish, but that will not be the norm. After all, they are one of the main reasons for this major rollback, with most seeing high cost complexities and little upside to 4K sports. On the other hand, they see more value in improving existing 1080p feeds used for high-quality sports broadcasts with HDR. 🔥Now, this doesn’t mean UHD will fade away. Under Ultra HD Forum definitions, 1080p content with a framerate of 50fps or 60fps and with HDR/WCG does qualify as UHD, and is commonly used. So, will 4K die now? What do you think? You can read the full story, for free, right here 👇

very cool. I love the cross-competition comparison - especially when it supports my La Liga bias ;-) Can you share a link describing how points are compiled?
