🗳️ The Political Campaign Edition: Where to Speak? 📢 #EUinfluencer Dave Keating spotlights a key trend: X has been reigning supreme on policy advocacy, but since the European Commission's strong stand to shut down ads on the platform, the spotlight shifted to LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok for EU elections. 🔄 This strategic pivot ensures a connection with each platform's unique audience. Effective digital communication requires a strategic understanding of where and how to engage, and tailoring messages to suit the unique traits of each platform can greatly boost your message's reach, putting you #OneStepAhead. 🎯 🤔 How do you adapt your messaging for the different social platforms? #DigitalStrategy #SocialMedia #Engagement #CommunicationTrends Maria Linkova-Nijs Philip Weiss Ariel Brunner Marsela Ivanova Alice Stollmeyer Alia Papageorgiou Jesús Azogue Gaia Gambaro Daniel Bartual Sevim Aktas Javier Blas Andrew Stroehlein Jon Worth Gerardo Fortuna Lotte Leicht Pablo Pérez Armenteros

The Changing Landscape of Communications: The Beauty of (Un)intended Desires Social media has revolutionized the way people communicate, participate, share, network, and bookmark online. The #FeesMustFall movement, which began in 2015 at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, is a prime example of the power of social media in mobilizing people and bringing attention to social justice issues. The movement, which protests high university fees, spread rapidly across South Africa and gained international support through social media platforms. The hashtag #FeesMustFall became a rallying cry for students and the general public, who used social media to share their stories, organize protests, and raise awareness about the issue. Social media has created a public sphere where people can meet to share ideas and discuss various topics, including politics and social justice. The mobilization theory suggests that social movements succeed through effective mobilization of resources and political opportunities. Social media has provided a platform for people to mobilize and take action. However, social media also has its downsides. The digital divide, which refers to the gap between those who have access to the internet and those who do not, can limit citizen participation in public affairs. Additionally, social media can be used to spread hate speech, racism, and misinformation. The #FeesMustFall movement highlights the importance of social media in modern society. It has changed the way people communicate, organize, and take action. While social media has its challenges, it also presents opportunities for people to come together and make a difference. In conclusion, social media is a double-edged sword. It can be used for good or bad, depending on how it is used. The #FeesMustFall movement shows that social media can be a powerful tool for social justice, but it also requires responsibility and regulation to prevent its misuse.

Today, on October 16th, we mark "World Food Day", and tomorrow, on October 17th, we observe the "International Day for the Eradication of Poverty". These two days together shed light on global movements dedicated to eliminating poverty and hunger. As we reflect on these momentous days, let me introduce you to a remarkable #PR campaign that resonates with the spirit of tackling global challenges. ー "THE POSTPONED DAY" - PR Lion 2023 Gold - Country: Argentina - Creator: LALCEC - Liga Argentina de Lucha Contra El Cáncer "The Postponed Day" - winner of the PR Lion 2023 Gold - is an initiative by LALCEC, the Argentine League Against Cancer, to address the critical issue of breast cancer screening. It's a powerful example of creative problem solving that fits the ethos of the day. The campaign aimed to increase breast cancer screening rates by extending #WorldBreastCancerDay for 14 consecutive days. Like the challenges we face in the fight against poverty and hunger, raising awareness of breast cancer isn't a one-off effort. In Argentina, many women were delaying their annual check-ups. To tackle this problem, more than 30 cancer NGOs in Argentina joined forces to 'postpone' World Breast Cancer Day. Their approach was simple, but brilliantly executed: whenever the media or press agencies asked for comment, they responded with, "I'm sorry, but today is not World Breast Cancer Day. We've moved it to tomorrow." And they did so every day, ensuring that the day of remembrance was continually extended. Just as we reflect on the pressing issues of poverty and hunger on these important days, The Postponed Day campaign highlighted the need for sustained effort in the fight against breast cancer and the power of media coverage to bring about real change. Thanks to this campaign, breast cancer screening rates in Argentina increased by 300% in 2022 compared to the previous year. ー So, as we mark World Food Day and look ahead to the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, let's remember that these days serve as a reminder of the ongoing struggles we face around the world. They encourage us to take creative, determined and persistent action to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/g3Ncd77j #WorldFoodDay #EndPoverty #CreativeSolutions #PowerdByPR
