Well the wait is final over and we are back racing this weekend. You can follow the racing live on Saturday 13th April at https://lnkd.in/eei_PgPy and click on the live link at 2pm.   I’ve not been lounging over the winter, ok maybe a bit, but I have been out testing, and working at Silverstone as well. I had the opportunity to test a Praga R1, thanks to Vincent and VR Motorsport. Which was pretty awesome. I was surprised it only took a few laps to get used to the cars aero and extra grip. They are really nice to drive. In some ways they have a lot in common with a Fun Cup car. Let’s just put the 360 horse power to one side and the aero. In common they have a central seating position, an engine in the back, driving the rear wheels, they both weigh around 750kgs and have good positive turn in thanks to race chassis. They are both physical to drive with no driver aids. Yes 360bhp and no ABS or TC and no power steering. So what is the biggest difference? The big difference was the brakes. The Praga has some serious stopping power even in the wet and this took the most amount of recalibration. Even in these challenging conditions as it dried up, I was getting close to the lap record and could compare data to that. A fresh set of slicks and a fully dry track, I think I’d like to have a crack at the record! Until then its eyes back on the Fun Cup Endurance championship this weekend. With new team member Simon Rudd coming into the team, we will be looking to defend the championship and win it for a 3rd time. This season has a lot of new fast teams joining so it’s going to be epic. Oh, we will be starting at the back as we are the CHAMPIONS, spot the new livery.
