This! Empathy+ Experience= Understanding Simeon Quarrie understands this truth. And so does his company Vivida What worked for Lucy Edwards works for us all. Including organisations. 👟 To deepen mutual understanding, smash bias and stop discrimination, you need to walk in some one else's shoes. Just ask the guys at Vivida Here's what you don't need: 😴 Dull D&I initiatives (yawn) ☠ Death by power point (groan) ❓ Endless questionnaires ( please!) 😱 Cursed gamified personality assessments (The horror! the horror!)
And just like that, they walked in her shoes! 💜 Lucy Edwards, who lost her sight as a teen, crafted a wedding day unlike any other. She invited her husband-to-be and guests to walk "In Her Shoes." Her captivating journey emphasises the power of love, empathy, and acceptance - something we wholeheartedly celebrate during this National Inclusion Week. Her unconventional walk down the aisle reminds us to embrace our uniqueness. The VIVIDA team and I are dedicated to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion through empathy. Lucy's story perfectly mirrors our "In Their Shoes" initiative, which encourages a deeper understanding of others through empathy. And Just like Lucy, we invite you to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Workplace Inclusion Architect | Guiding HR Leaders to build a more inclusive workplace they can be proud of
Here are 5 reasons why celebrating Pride improves your work culture: 1. It lets your employees know that no matter who they love or how they identify, they are accepted. 2. It gives you an opportunity to engage with the LGBTQIA+ community and gain insight and understanding of their lived experiences to create a fairer workplace and society. 3. It demonstrates your organisation's commitment to equality by intentionally educating employees about the lived experiences that the LGBTQIA+ community faces. 4. It normalises difference and inclusion as part of your culture, and role-models your organisation's forward-thinking behaviour within your industry. It also unites people through fun activities, delivering a serious message through enjoyable experiences. 5. It gives your LGBTQIA+ customers confidence that you are an inclusive business where they want to spend their well earned Pink Pound (estimated to be £6 billion in the UK). Every year Mildon supports a variety of organisations with their Pride activities, through: - Workshops - Webinars - Keynote speaking So, how are you going to celebrate Pride 2024? 🏳️🌈 Email hello@mildon.co.uk to book your activity, but hurry as my diary is filling up fast! #Pride #PrideMonth #Pride2024

Lessons in Team Culture from the Power of Inclusivity Today is Pride Day in Seattle, and the energy is electric! As we celebrate, it's a great time to reflect on the powerful lessons in team culture that we can learn from Pride. This picture is from our journey to Iceland earlier this year. The rainbow crosswalk serves as a vivid reminder of the strength and beauty that comes from inclusivity. Embracing Inclusivity Inclusivity isn't just a buzzword; it's the foundation of a thriving team culture. When every team member feels valued and accepted, they are more engaged, motivated, and innovative. _________ Here's how we can take these lessons to heart: 1. Create a Safe Space for Everyone: - Just as Pride creates a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community, we should strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe to express their true selves. This means actively listening, showing empathy, and standing against discrimination. .................. 2. Celebrate Diversity: - Diversity brings a wealth of perspectives and ideas. By celebrating our differences, we can foster creativity and innovation. Encourage team members to share their unique experiences and viewpoints. .................. 3. Promote Open Communication: - Open and honest communication is key to building trust within a team. Encourage team members to speak up, share their ideas, and voice their concerns. A culture of transparency leads to stronger, more cohesive teams. .................. 4. Support Each Other: - Just as the rainbow crosswalks show visible support for the LGBTQ+ community, we should visibly support each other in our daily interactions. Recognize achievements, offer help when needed, and stand up for one another. .................. 5. Commit to Continuous Learning: - Inclusivity requires ongoing effort and education. Commit to learning more about different cultures, identities, and experiences. This knowledge helps us better understand and support our teammates. .................. The Power of Inclusivity Inclusivity isn't just the right thing to do; it's a powerful driver of success. Teams that embrace inclusivity are more resilient, adaptable, and capable of overcoming challenges. They harness the collective strength of their diverse members to achieve greater heights. As we celebrate Pride Day in Seattle, let's commit to fostering a team culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Together, we can create an environment where every individual can soar. Let's go! #cultureFIRSTleadership #PrideDay #Inclusivity

I really believe this. Diversity shouldn't just be a buzzword—it's a call to action! Too often, the face of DEI efforts do not reflect the diversity it aims to promote. Let's break the cycle and genuinely champion inclusion. Look around your office. Is it diverse? How? 🔗 #DiversityMatters #InclusionRevolution #DEIChampions 🌍 #BeyondBuzzwords #EqualityForAll #RepresentationMatters 🤲 #WalkTheTalk #InclusiveLeadership #ChangeStartsWithUs 👥 #UnityInDiversity #EmpowerMinorities #LeadWithEmpathy 🌟 #CulturalInclusion #OpenMindsOpenDoors #BreakingBarriers 💼 #InclusiveWorkplaces #DiverseVoices #ProgressNotPromises

Hi Connections, It takes no compromise to give people their rights. It takes no money to respect an individual. It take no political deal to give people freedom. It requires no survey to remove repression. It just takes a small step towards inclusion. Change your thoughts and allow your action to make the difference. #PiramalCapitalandHousingFinanceLimited #PrideatPiramal #PrideMonth #Hiring #LGBTQIAplus #CommunityMembers Connect : Siddhartha.gupta@piramal.com

I am attending the Out & Equal Workplace Summit virtually this year, and after today's sessions, I am feeling a mixture of all of these things listed in the following video: Hopeful Energized Activated Angry Concerned Frustrated Resolute Galvanized Resilient United Catalyzed Powerful Unstoppable During the opening plenary session, Erik Day spoke about the sadness in noting that he's experienced a recent resurfacing of that feeling he had back in 2010, going onto an Air Force Base before 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' was repealed. We're all feeling that seeping back, and it's by design. "They" want us divided and fractured and afraid. He urged us to stick together, and to stand by those who stand by us. Erin Uritus talked about the feeling she had when Matthew Shepherd was killed -- a sense of "I can't; I can't," followed by the resolute, "I must." She acknowledged that this work is messy; mistakes happen. She said "we don't shame companies," and said that behind closed doors, Out & Equal shows them the value proposition in the business of belonging. This year, Out & Equal has 60 more partner entities than last year. So many other notable moments followed, with a significant emphasis in the sessions I attended today on the intersecting topics of well-being, purpose, mental health, authenticity, and human sustainability and how these fit into and define workplace culture. It felt like the injection of work self-care I needed (despite having to wake up at 5:00 am to attend). As is often the case when immersing myself into heavy topics, I feel a mixture of gratitude, inspiration, and exhaustion. The theme this year is We ARE. We are here. We're not going anywhere.
We are fueled by community & Queer joy. 🌈 ⭐️ We are bold, united, and powerful. We are here and always will be. We are unstoppable. We are kicking off a transformative experience at our Workplace Summit! #WeAre #OESummit2023
