I'm seeing many long-tenure people (10+ years) laid off at Google. There's probably some reverse engineering to be done there, or maybe it's just the bias in who I know or who posts here. If you're over 40, be aware of this - https://lnkd.in/e59wr8j7 - which came via Vox - https://lnkd.in/e3t2PPBP It explains the magical 60 days thing.

A company that made $16B in net income last year should be able to ride out slowing ad revenue for quite a while. But then I ask myself if they would have enough cash at hand to bolster the stock price with a buy back? Maybe they want to buy more successful companies and drive them into irrelevance? Being compassionate and thoughtful doesn’t provide shareholder value.
