How can we create: 🟰 EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL in the ICELANDIC JOB MARKET? 🟰 💡 Final Insights from Grant Research Project: "Assessing the Talent Pool of Foreign Experts in Iceland" 🎤On Monday 30th October, Michelle Spinei, Jennifer Lynn Schwalbenberg and I presented the final insights from the research project we have been conducting throughout 2023. We were trying to answer 2 questions: 1️⃣ “Is there an under-utilised talent pool of foreign experts in Iceland?” 2️⃣ “Are Icelandic companies equipped to hire foreign experts” We assessed 2 groups throughout the study: 1. Experiences of Foreign Experts in Iceland 2. Thank you so much for joining us. 🌱We would like to invite people to comment below and ask questions, and we will be sure to answer any questions. 🟰Whilst this study was focused on Foreign Experts, we believe that companies can make changes to their hiring processes, to ensure everyone who applies gets a fair chance. That is the true meaning of creating a diverse workforce, giving everyone an equal chance to apply for roles they are qualified for. 🟰 ✊🏽 We have completed the grant funding part of this project, however, we don't want to stop there, we need to continue to raise awareness and take action for change to happen. We have 4 legacy pillars to action and really drive change: 1️⃣ Partnership: Form a valuable collaboration with a key Icelandic organisation to engage companies around a commitment to equal hiring opportunities for all. 2️⃣ Best Practice: Create a set of “Best Practice” guidelines which are free of charge for companies. Enabling them to self-audit and refine hiring processes to create equal opportunity for all. 3️⃣ Awareness: Raise awareness through engaging dialogue by presenting this data to companies and organisations. 4️⃣ DISRUPT THE MARKET: We are asking companies to help disrupt the market, and embrace transparent by excluding personal details from CVs (creating bias-free processes) and disclosing salaries in job adverts 📝This is an observational trend report, not an academic study. ©️ Share this post!
