Mastering your swing path is key for consistent shots. Pros keep it subtle, just a bit around their target. For us, two tricky spots: the over-the-top move (swinging too far left for righties) and getting "stuck" with arms lagging, causing blocks and hooks. Justin Thomas suggested, in a recent post, using golf swing obstacles - like a bucket of balls for a left swing or a stick to prevent overcompensation. Golfers Digest recommended sliding a towel outside your club's toe to fix the over-the-top move. For the inside-out move, use an obstacle (like an alignment stick) behind the ball. Swing through it before making contact. Worth a try, right? Check out the link in the comments for more tips. P.S. Choose obstacles wisely. Golf swing COMING OVER THE TOP In golf, "coming over the top" can also refer to a specific type of body movement during the swing. When a golfer comes over the top with their body movement, it means that their upper body initiates the downswing too aggressively or too early, leading to an inefficient swing plane and poor contact with the ball. Coming over the top with body movement often involves the upper body moving towards the target too soon, causing the club to approach the ball from an outside-in path. This can result in slices, pulls, and a lack of power in the swing. To correct this issue, golfers may need to focus on initiating the downswing with the lower body, allowing the hips and lower body to lead the movement while the upper body follows in sequence. This can help promote a more efficient swing plane and better contact with the ball. Additionally, drills and exercises aimed at improving lower body stability and sequencing can be beneficial in addressing this problem. #golf #golfswing #practice #movebetter #golflessons #buckcounty #spring

Golf Tip: New Drill You Can Do While Watching TV - Grip & Power! There is a lot written on how golfer’s grip the golf club, remembering all these points can sometimes cause overthinking, which can make a golfer tense up and this then impacts movement and power. I'd like to give a slightly different approach to gripping the golf club. I want you to think of the grip as simply being functional. It means if you think about what happens in the golf swing the wrists and hands are very important. Because when we swing there is a cocking action that goes on with the wrists and hands (See Image 1) and a hinging action (Image 2) during the golf swing. The hands are like an engine. They help create some of the power or at least they help some of the power created through the body to come through them. However, if they aren’t positioned in a functional way, that power won’t get through the hands into the golf club. I would like you to take the approach of playing with different grip positions. Until it feels like you can move the wrists up and down (cocking) and then move the wrists from left to right (hinging). However, make sure most of the movement comes from the wrists and the hands. Don’t do the cocking movement (up and down) with the arms and elbows. If this happens it would indicate that your hands aren’t in a good position. Hold the club in a way that feels comfortable and feels like you can actually hit the golf ball in that position. #golfswing #golftips #golfcoaching
