When your beauty or fashion brand hits a certain point, taking PR off your team's plate and bringing on an external PR agency can exponentially boost your success and grow awareness - but it's a step many are wary of taking.
I understand that sometimes it may seem easier or less risky to handle PR internally, and I see brands handing off media outreach to a marketing team member (or sometimes even the founder).
I completely get the reasoning - hiring external PR support is not only a financial investment, but also requires a leap of faith and strong amount of trust in your new PR agency that they'll communicate your brand messaging accurately. After all, they're speaking on your behalf to national media on a daily basis - it's nerve-wracking to entrust your brand reputation to someone!
But at a certain point, you might be holding your brand back - and burning out your team members tasked to handle PR on top of their regular job in the process!
Why is bringing on external support often the smart choice?
Software Investments Add Up
From media list building to reporting to monitoring software, PR agencies invest a lot into their tech stacks to deliver the best results for clients. Spread across many clients, the cost is a no-brainer, but for one brand to invest heavily in all these softwares can add up - and doesn't even come with the strategy and insight necessary for a compelling campaign.
It's Time-Consuming to Keep Up with Trends
PR isn't a "set it and forget it" type of service - it requires time and consistently keeping up with media and consumer trends. While in-house marketing teams have some insight into this, they're usually not in the trenches with editors on a daily basis to keep up with constant shifts.
PR Agencies Know How to Speak to and Work With Editors
PR agencies understand editors' needs and deadlines from our years of experience working with them. We know what type of imagery or products will make sense to present to them, and can filter client messaging through an editorial eye. An outside set of eyes on messaging can create a fresh perspective!

2moATTENTION SUN BROADCASTING!! Why, why, why do you keep taking Rock music from your listeners here in SWFL!! You already took one station(93X) from us years ago! Now it's Rock 103.3 that get's axed for yet another sports Radio station. C'mon man! Now all we have still is old classic rock from 96.1 KROCK and 94.5 ARROW. "New" rock music is the future. We need our New rock music to keep us sane! WE demand that we get our New Rock station back!! We've been down here in SWFL for over 20+ years and have had the opportunity to go see SO bands and up and coming artists locally and in the SWFL area, spending so much of our hard earned money, all while you "White Collar", suit and tie wearing facists sit at your fancy desks, making stupid corporate decisions that make no sense. We all know that you LOVE country music and sports radio(fart noise) and hate new rock music. You're not fooling anyone. WE NEED OUR NEW ROCK MUSIC!! 🎸🤘🏼😎
