You want to know a dirty little (not so well-kept) secret? Not every B2B company needs a full-time marketing director. As you enter your post proof-of-concept phase, you inarguably **need** guidance. You (likely) do need someone to sit with you for chunks of time to direct your corporate marketing efforts, especially as it relates to a content strategy. You may need a full-time marketing director...eventually. Today? You need a well-versed, seasoned comms pro who can help you set up a plan. That same person may also have the resources to help you execute it. I've been hired prematurely more times than I care to count. It's never fun to be the person in the room who's ready to execute, and then told that the very cost of your presence inhibits the company's marketing spend. Spread across many clients, the cost is a no-brainer, but for one brand to invest heavily in all these softwares can add up - and doesn't even come with the strategy and insight necessary for a compelling campaign. It's Time-Consuming to Keep Up with Trends PR isn't a "set it and forget it" type of service - it requires time and consistently keeping up with media and consumer trends. While in-house marketing teams have some insight into this, they're usually not in the trenches with editors on a daily basis to keep up with constant shifts. Of course, I'm bound to say that PR delivers better value than advertising. But as someone who sold advertising for 10 years, I can speak with some authority that whilst effective it doesn't match the ROI to be gained from PR. Here's 5 proof points:
