It was an honor to work on this project and be listed as an author on the latest publication by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) A new AAMC report presents an assessment of the landscape of digital health equity practices at academic medical centers. Based on the results of interviews with 12 AAMC-member institutions, Digital Health Equity: Current Practices and Approaches of Academic Medical Centers outlines current and future strategies and emerging best practices. The report also examines various definitions of digital health equity, the role of data, digital health, and more. One of the biggest challenges within healthcare is ensuring services can meet the needs of the local population.  To help manage this, colleagues and students from Lancaster University have paired up to develop a new capacity and demand tool that will revolutionise the way services are planned across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Clinical Lead for Physiological Sciences and Healthcare Science, Tony Crick tells us more: "The capacity and demand tool allows services to input the capacity that they have in terms of colleagues and clinic spaces etc and measure it against what they predict they will actually need to deliver. It will then give a calculation to show if there is enough capacity, appointments and ability to test the number of patients that are expected within that period. "The ultimate aim is to make sure that patients get their tests done within six weeks. This ensures they can receive their results as quickly as possible – allowing them to begin treatment for any condition diagnosed at the earliest opportunity. "We have already been using the tool with selected sets of data and are now looking to populate it with data from all modalities so that it can benefit the patients and colleagues of all our Physiological Sciences and Healthcare Science teams."

A Financing Strategy to Expand Surgical Health Care Desmond T. Jumbam, Che L Reddy , John G Meara , Emmanuel M. Makasa, and Rifat Atun "This #article examines options for financing expanded surgical #health #care services in #LMICs as part of broader efforts to achieve #UHC. The #study #analyzes #trends in health systems financing, approaches to expand fiscal space for health, and empirical perspectives on the design and scale-up of policies to improve #surgical #systems to develop a #strategy to fund the expansion of surgical health care in LMICs. Interesting editorial published in Australian Critical Care exploring ways to foster integration of researchers into ICU care teams 👉 https://lnkd.in/gDsAi8kz ✅ Agree with authors that two-way engagement between clinicians and researchers is important; the idea of inviting researchers to participate in ward rounds is creative and indicative of a unit that prioritises research. 🏗 Building on Shahid et al's.(2024) views, I believe that a top down approach to staff engagement is also fundamental to the successful integration of research into the ICU. Without support and buy-in from hospital executives, managers, and senior clinicians across disciplines and specialties it is difficult to engage clinicians to effect change at the coal face.

We are thrilled to announce that Connie Lee, a student in our #MSPA program, has just been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)! In this article, Connie and her team examine perspectives of both laypersons and #healthcare professionals regarding the design and implementation of scarce resource allocation (#SRA) policy in times of crisis. The development of SRA policies was spurred by the #COVID-19 pandemic, which caused unprecedented strains on the healthcare system. This highlighted the need for a systemized approach to determine how resources should best be allocated in situations where the demand exceeds the ability to provide standard care.
